I had 3 birthday cards in this mornings post, my husband thinks I'm funny cos I won't open them till the correct day.
I say, if I do then what will I have to look forward to when it is my birthday?
That brought back a happy memory too, my son came in one day and said, " Ma! why are the choccies I bought you for Mothers Day still unopened?" I told him cos if I eat them now I won't get any more until Easter so I like to look at them.
Two days later he appeared with another box, and said, "Now open your choccies and look at this box instead!" Oh happy days!
So my question is. Do you save up treats for later or are they gone in a flash? x

I know what you mean. I have this thing where if I get a favorite dessert at the store, I want to wait until 7:00p.m. before I eat it. My mom digs right into her dessert to taste before we have dinner!
But its the waiting that makes it taste extra good. And it has to be at 7:00p.m. I don't know why I chose that time.
Have a happy birthday!!!!

Happy Birthday Sylvia.....hope you get all you are wishing for.
On the matter of saving something until later, I really struggle with that one. I have absolutely no will power at all when it comes to gifts; my son knows that if he delivers my gift before the day, then I will open it. This works out really well, 'cos he HAS to visit on the day and that makes my day truly special!!! Am I a devious soul or what?

I like to husband out my treats over a long period of time. And trust me, in this household keeping my daughters out of my chocolate is a major undertaking! But I have very many hiding places, from which I will portion out a piece or two a night.
I have the feeling I learned how to do this from my mother. She would take all our halloween candies when we got home and first check them to see that nothing was wrong with them. The ones that had to be eaten right away were put aside in the fridge for us to enjoy over a couple of days (candy and caramel apples, caramel popcorn, homemade cupcakes and cookies). The hard packaged candies were put away in my mothers blanket trunk in her bedroom--each person getting their own layer. And then the candies would be given back to us 2 or 3 at a time every day. I can remember lots of times finishing off my halloween candy only just before Christmas.

i always like to hold something back for a special day/treat...i think opening birthday presents etc early spoils it a bit and if i have something like a box of my fave chocolates i always save some rather than scoffing them all on one go..your son sounds adorable btw.x

No. Can't wait.
However, when I get a slab of watermelon on my plate, I eat from the rind in towards the center. Best for last.
