Will you raise your children the White way?

I will. My girlfriend is Puerto Rican and she looks white to me with tan skin and dark hair although sometimes she doesn't consider herself that. I want to raise my kids the white way; I will tell them to be proud of their white heritage and to never marry someone who looks alien to them. They will also get benefits of the Hispanic label as I will tell them to always mark it for getting into college or a job. Are you going to raise your kids the white way?

There's no such thing as white heritage. "White" includes such wildly divergent cultures as Irish, Albanian, Greek, Swedish, Estonian, Finnish, Basque ... there is no single white culture.

Why don't you want your children to see the beauty in Latino culture? If you have kids and their mother is Puerto Rican, why do you want to deny them half their heritage? Why only use their Latino ethnicity to get a job or go to college? I think that's really shallow. Does the mother of your kids know you feel this way? I'm white and my husband is Mexican and when we have kids they will know both sides of their heritage. Even though we live in the U.S. I will want them to be proud of their Latino heritage, including celebrating holidays of both cultures, learning English AND Spanish, etc. I will raise my kids to be proud of their heritage...ALL of their heritage, not just part of it.

If I ever have any children, I'll tell them that all people are descendants of Adam and Eve and since we all come from the same ancestors, we're all brothers and sisters regardless of such trivialities as skin color. That's the "human being" way.

It doesn't matter whether she looks white or not. She's likely a carrier for a gene for darker skin, which means that your children might well have it.
