Age is a question of mind over matter.
If you don't mind, it doesn't matter!

Wrong, age is just a number. It is how you feel, the person you are and all you have gathered along your way. Numbers don't mean anything. Don't let it get you down. Look at all the stuff you saw come to pass. That is awesome. You are special and it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks or the age old stigma oh I am over the hill. It's what you make it, and as long as the choice is yours go for the gusto! I'm with Ya!Have a good Bday and celebrate, it's not the candles on the cake it's ya still got the icing!

My advice: Don't slow down. You have a young child that's going to need some strong nurturing in the next few years.

I didn't even start to really hit my "prime" until I was in my 50's, also with a child. They were some of the best years of my life. I did my best in those years in all facets of my life. I still do, even though disabled now.

Age and disability are mere inconveniences. Live your life at a normal pace. As someone has already said, the 60's are the new 40's, so even that gives you a good edge on the rest of us.

Being 50 is the golden anniversary of your birth. Take good care of yourself, eat healthy and exercise....you have a built-in partner for exercise sessions, in your child. Enjoy life and you'll have many, many good memories for your "old age".

There's an old saying: "If I'd known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself." 8^)

And there's another saying: "Once you're over the hill you gather speed."

You're going to find (perhaps you have already) that your body doesn't serve you as well as it once did. You will have more problems, minor aches and pains, stiffness in the joints, that kind of thing, that medical science can't help you with. You have to come to accept these philosophically as 'the gifts of age'.

But don't give in to the impulse to just stay home, stay warm, curl up in front of the TV. You have to stay active and vigorous to stay 'young at heart'. Get some exercize. Get out and go places and do things, even try to learn new things to keep your brain working. As we say: Use it or lose it!

My Youngest turned 50 in July..Don't try to do as much now as you did at forty, try to slow down where you can, take leisure time for yourself, find the time. Your 12 yr. old will keep you young try not to spoil him (ha) to much.
Supposedly work keeps you from three great evils: bordom, vice, and poverty, what a crock! I wish you a happy birthday early.

What advice could you possibly need? You were born in the best of times, the last of the age of innocence. You've seen some pretty impressive history happen, so you have much to share with those who follow behind you.

BTW, my daughter was born in '58 and my son in '59. We all wish you the best of birthdays.

I'm a '56er. Didn't you hear that 60 is the old 40? Boomers are working longer and living longer! I do everything I did when I was 20 and more! I have more money for more funny!

Relax. You are probably doing fine.

Welcome to the half-a-century club. On my 50th birthday, I treated myself to a trip to Florida. I went to 3 theme parks and got on all the rides my body and head could stand. I also ate at the expensive restaurants. It was so cool! I didn't get to do it when I went with my son and nephew because I was always having to watch them or my money, but at 50, it was my turn. I don't regret it.

Do something crazy for yourself and enjoy your birthday!

Polecat - we are kindred spirits!!
