Your is a possessive noun. It indicates that something belongs to you. You're is a contraction of "you are". I make this mistake sometimes because I'm typing quickly. If I were actually being graded, maybe I'd waste my time enough to check my work.

'your' is used when the writer is saying that something belongs to someone else.
'You're' is used when the writer is using colloquial parlance and is wanting to shorten 'You are'.
For example,
"You're absolutley correct, grammar is much worse than in times past. Your question and it's blerb are valid in their assumption."
I blame 'txt mgs' and LeetSpeek, wot u sa?.

Well YOU'RE is a contraction of YOU ARE.
The word YOUR is a personal pronoun, showing ownership of something.

Apparently, not too many people care about the word or it's significance.
Your means ( yours, belongs to you.) Your name is?
You're means (you are.) You're my friend.
Got it? Very simple, very easy, and don't you forget that you're smarter than your teacher sometimes.....

Your is a reference to ownership ie: your car
Your`e is short for you are ie: you are late
It`s a common mistake on this site and is generally due to bad grammar....

No. But I know the difference a rookie soldier and a constipated owl. One shoots but can't hit.
Remember, in this life, you're your best friend.
