i heard on the news about a stabbing in austrailia. they showed a women talking & she said, "well we would here things about this kind of thing in america, not austrailia." they aren't any better than us!

A lot of Australians like making fun us. One of there news reporters made that popular video "why are Americans so dumb" Where he went around asking Americans things like simple geography and math questions. And of course they got it wrong. They totally edited it in case anyone actually answered correctly but oh well. It seems to be a past time now, even a lot Americans hate America.

Look at it this way - the woman on the news only heard about those things in America but she's probalby deaf as a post when it comes to Australian crime. Maybe their crime rate is lower?
No matter what, its' only her opinion and has no direct impact on you as a person. Move on with your life - there are bigger & better things to worry about than what 1 person is saying on Australian TV.

Ha that's a question I would love to answer! Basically you Americans are not taught about the rest of the world much. Coming from England we are well educated in all the cultures of the world and so are the Australians. To the rest of the world you Americans seems to think you are better than the rest of us! I don't think you would know very much about Canada even!

I don't think it is a question of better or worse.
I think it is a question of culture.
Fact is, stabbings and shootings are not so uncommon in the US. In most other places in the world, they are pretty rare. But in those other places in the world a good beat down is much more typical.
I think you are misinterpretting the remark.

Well for one thing, that was only one australian. And I heard comments like that from Americans about technological failings (like stuff about the collapsed bridge).
