She lost custody of her son in 1993 to her mother, who claimed because she was a lesbian she was an unfit mother, the Virginia courts agreed. I am just curious as to what kind of relationship the family has now.

Modernity is looked upon as forward looking force, while tradition is something that has existed in the past. Will the two of them always result in conflicts or are there some cases where they can fuse together without any conflicts.

How does tradition help to forge our identity, as in, how can we say who we are through our tradition?
Does being modern destroy that identity and make us a completely different person?

I stayed off for a few days and I did not encounter any racism or negativity in the real world. Then I come here and I see it. These people are ruining Yahoo Answers, when will we stand up to them?

Im not racist.I have good black friends that are nice and are just normal people.I dont get why they dress in a way thats intimidating and also talk in a way thats intimedating with their hats and bandanas. Some white people imetate them.I see black teen agers dress this way. They think its cool.A black guy at the jim once told me what is a matter in an intimadating way.I like Montel Williams because he acts normal and talks normal.I wana see black people only in colur but just behave and dress the same like all Americans. They are good normal black people not gangs or thugs. Why to they pretend to be that way why cant they be themselves?Black does not mean tuff and angry and white does not mean racist its just a skin colur. Why cant we all be the same as unique individuals?Again dont missunderstand me Black/African American people im not against you Im against some minority of black people who pretend to be tuff because they think it is cool.

And it wasn't true at all? Here is my situation. I was a cashier at a retail store, and this white woman came in my line and used a debit card(where she would enter in her pin number) ok that transaction was complete, so then comes a black man that uses a credit card. I ask him for his ID..and he said I was racists against my own kind because I didn't ask the white lady for her ID. So when I explained to him that we don't ID for debit cards when someone enters their pin number, but we ID for credit cards...he was rather embarrassed after he heard what I had to say.

I've known I was bisexual for a long time, over half my life. Tonight my boyfriend and I were talking and the subject came up. I decided that it was the right time to tell him when he asked me why I believed people were their orientation from birth.
I cried because it was pretty overwhelming, and he told me that he loved me just the same, but that homosexuality was a choice and a sin.
I just need help convincing him that I would never choose to be persecuted all my life for who I have feelings for.
Does anyone have an easy way to put it to him, to help him understand? He's been a Christian all his life, so he's pretty set in his beliefs, so I need some good points.

I am not leaving him - that is not an option.

Thank you all (:

I heard some trash about this on a radio talk show last week and I thought that was extremely rude and shallow.
I accept and respect him because he truly loves his children and he honors and respects his wife. He has a beautiful family.
If he wanted a white wife he would've married one.
Why are some bothered by it?

african americans cant live a normal life.Theres always somebody or someting talking about us.If its not our music. Its where we live or how we live.IF it isnt that its the way we talk they make it seem like were violent. They make it seem like we dont care when we really do they describe our neighborhoods as trashy, and violent.they make it seem like blacks are stupid. We have been described as ignorant many of times but this is our culture.

what is the best way i can come out as a bisexual to a same gender crush without telling them i have a crush on them, but making it also easy for them to understand as a friend?

i know it kinda sounds stupid, but im also in high school.

and if it helps, i don't expect a negative reaction, but probably an incredibly awkward one.

I think that for as much progress as we've made in the last 20 years, it's going to take about 20 more... so my conjecture is 2023.

But in my state, gay marriage is prohibited by a constitutional amendment, and there's no telling how long it would take to change that, even if the feds ok'd it. Maybe 15 years? So, who knows, maybe I will be able to marry by the time I'm 50.

What do you think?

I'm in favour of same-sex marriages. I'm no major activist or anything, just think gays should have the same rights as straight people. Would I not been labelled gay or something for having this view?

I am hetrosexual, some college 'fun and games' confirmed it.

I know that there is strength in numbers, but is not the whole purpose of banding together to attain rights for the individual?
If a group remains and begins to direct how its members behave, does not the individual lose strength rather than gain it? And anyone who may have a disagreement with the group, just as i, a bisexual woman, disagree with some gay issues, is outcast. And is not the group easily swayed by its most radical members?
