I'm in favour of same-sex marriages. I'm no major activist or anything, just think gays should have the same rights as straight people. Would I not been labelled gay or something for having this view?

I am hetrosexual, some college 'fun and games' confirmed it.

It's people, that have qualities like you, that have allowed the gay community to have the rights we currently have. (many years ago things were way worse) it's not perfect for us yet, but it gets better every day. Thanks for your support.

I am also heterosexual and I support the rights of any group of individuals to be whoever they are do whatever they wish provided they are not encroaching on the rights of others.

I believe that all human beings should be treated with dignity and respect, irrespective of who they are.

As far as sexual orientation is concerned I find the company of the gay community to be more rewarding and enriching, and based on personal experience perceive them on the whole to be more intelligent, sensitive, caring, fun to be around and genuine than straight people.

There are, of course, some individuals who are not like that, just as there are some heterosexuals who have all of the afore-mentioned qualities.

I do not particularly want to fight for gay rights, but that is because I think gays should be extended those rights without having to fight for them.

The only thing I cannot stand is bigots, and I will fight tooth and nail against bigotry, but I'd do that for anyone.

Louise
xx

Hi there Salsoul, There are many heterosexuals who support LGBT rights, there is no way that it would make you gay....its not catching :o)
It's great that you are so supporting! Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are in favour of same-sex marriages. They have vowed never to get married until everyone has the same rights.
Good on you for wanting equality for everyone. The thing to remember is: 'The people that matter don't mind, and the people that mind dont matter!'
All the best! :o)

Of course you can, When the civil rights movement was going on there were a lot of whites who supported the rights of Black people. Of course Gay are going to accept gays, we need the support of heterosexuals for us to win the same rights as you have. It's only when most heterosexual accept that we're just like you and we want the same things as you will we than be accepted by the majority of the population.

Babe I think in this world you can support who you want. Whats wrong with supporting gays if you are hetro. Nothing that I can see. I have lots of straight friends but I not put down as straight because I support them. We are all people and we all appeciate friends whatever they are. Make a gay friend and they will be a friend for life. Do you think if someones house was burning down I would just walk past because I knew they were straight ? no I would try to help just like I would any other person. Never believe that you will be put down for standing up for gays because we will never do it to you.

I believe you can, i do, its there right to be who they want to be. I am not the judge or the jury and further more LGBT's make the best Friends. there open, honest, and true i know, i have gay Friends and if someone is labeling you because of such just ignore the narrow mindedness i have a saying. IF YOU (OR ANYBODY FOR THAT MATTER) SPENT AS MUCH TIME MINDING YOUR OWN BUSINESS AS YOU DID MINDING, MINE THE WORLD WOULD BE A MUCH BETTER PLACE.

Yes, of course you can, and most welcome you would be too! I have always said that the only way gay people will ever be really accepted is when straight people come on board and help us to achieve true equality.
It's especially helpful if they are famous, so straight people like Ken Livingstone, who is very gay friendly, does everything in his power to make life easier for gays.

Of course you can. In fact people like you are really what the LGBT community needs more of..

It crushes all the idiotic beliefs that heterosexual people (men especially) should find homosexual/transgender people "disgusting".

You also don't have to be a major activist to make your belief count. Just voice your opposition to the people who make ridiculous and harmful claims against the LGBT community.
