To those of you who came out to your friends and/or family about being gay, was it something you thought about and planned or did you just bring it up in friendly conversation out of the blue? The reason I ask is because I was watching Inside Edition with my parents tonight and of course the top story was about Lance Bass....so with me being in the closet still it was awkward sitting there watching this and at the end my mom said that it's good that he's happy with being himself....i feel like i should have said something, but i felt rather caught off guard. I'm seriously ready to start coming out...I'm going to start with my brother next week and move onto mom and then to a select few friends....but I don't know if planning the whole event is just going to make it harder. I was talking with one of my friends on the phone today and felt like blurting it out of no where, but I don't have the balls to do that lol (no pun intended)

I personally believe its fine, and we [myself being bisexual] should be allowed to openly express our feelings just as much as you [heterosexuals] are.

Now wait, I'm not asking what you think is wrong with being gay, intelligent folks understand there's a difference. The question is, since some people ARE gay (and who would claim to be if they were not), why would letting them promise to love each other (and no one else) be a bad thing? Isn't the problem most people have with gays that they sleep around and spread disease? Well, then wouldn't having them in comitted relationships make you feel better about it? Do we really think that if we persecute these folks long enough they will all turn normal? That's ignorant. Again, I am not justifying any lifestyle, just asking clarification for whay the marriage objection is.

Add-on: If your point is that it is very bad, would you support some law to imprison gays and lesbians?

I'm not gay, but I don't understand why reasonable think that gay marriage is that big of a deal. I've been married for almost 10 years and I don't understand what effect this would have on my wife and I.

I get disrespect from ppl of all ages. Why do ppl feel like me being nice, I'm putting myself in the position to be misused & abused? I have foster & biological family & even a TWIN, & not one member loves me. People try 2 intimidate or threaten me into getting what they want out of me. I wonder. How am I always considered an easy target?

My foster mom said I'm gonna wind up in jail or dead one day & deserve it, & my foster brother in law said I put myself in the position 2 DESERVE 2 be misused & abused. Is this mental abuse? Also, my foster mom says that ppl have a right 2 disrespect & misuse me.

I know I am going to be raked over the coals for this. How long are Whites suppose to say were sorry that blacks were slaves . It has been 140 years since slaveryand 50 years since civil rights. Blacks (not all) seem like they would rather work to blame Whites rather then work to improve their lifes. I know I am generalizing, but when you listen to the Jessie Jacksons and Al Sharptons (the so called leaders of the Black movement) of the world all I hear is give me and feel sorry for me and don't forget to feel guilty. My family history doesn't start in this country till the 1900's. Either way when is enough, enough. When is it time to stop asking (demanding ) a hand out. OK thats my say, WHATS YOURS

about being with guys. i admit i have had fantasies about gay sex and watched gay porn but really like having a girlfriend. what does this mean? i mean if she thinks i am gay why does she want to be with me? her and i have been intimate so i thought any doubts in her mind would be answered....not sure where she is coming from on this.

How can being homosexual be wrong when 200 known species in the animal kingdom practice homosexuality. I got this information from the National Geographic Channel. You can't justify hate to someone that is being themself. wouldn't you think the world would be boring if everyone was the same sexuality, religion and even all look the same.

I'm gay, and I'd like to have a girlfriend in high school, but I'm not sure how to "come out." I can't exactly wear a sign on my back saying "LESBIAN; SINGLE AND LOOKING." I think that if it's widely known, I might get raped and/or beaten. I seriously doubt girls go around hitting on other girls until they find a lesbian. How do I do this?

I know we all are suppose to be PC and homosexuality is so cool and hot right now in our culture, but be honest: the moment your kid was to tell you they were gay would you be happy, could care less, or disappointed?

Do you think it reflects bad on you as a parent like you wonder what did I do to cause this to happen?

I mean from my perspective, if I had one son who had a wife and kids and another who was being bent over taking it up his rear(excuse the imagery but as a parent tthat would be all I would see in my mind) I would still love thhem both but would be prouder of the married son with kids. Wouldnt you?

when i came out of the closet to a few friends they felt the need to tell my other friends. I lost one of my best friends, she just started ignoring me, and never left me explain to her...i used to take her to the hospital to visit her sick father when no one else would take her...so do i have good reason she never left me tell her about me being a lesbian? im still upset that she just disowned me

I know this is inapropriate but I would like to defend my ground.
First of all I have taken my son to the speacialists etc.
I too am a devote pagan.
As in healing I didnt mean spells for his brain damage etc,I ment sleeping patterns,eating.I have to also say that telling someone that there isnt enough magik in the world to cure this disabilty is totaly unpeacialful and just blunt IGNORANT!Im not in denial and was in no way looking for this type of critism,espeacialy froma pagan community.You couldnt even offer CONSTRUCTIVE critism.Thank you for offering your anserw to my question but in no retrospect will I thank you for making me feel like an inadaquate mother and that of a practicing wiccan.

Marriage should be between TWO LOVING HUMANS of consenting age. Isn't this what marriage was mean to be? The final contract between TWO LOVING HUMANS of consenting age to show to the world just how much they loved eachother. Why is this so hard to grasp by you people? Marriage is meant to be between these two humans for as long as they both shall live, no divorcing so they can go marry another human, none of that.

I'm black, as you can guess by my Avatar, and I live (for about 2 years now) in a predominantly white (if we classify things by race) neighborhood of Southern California. Why do I get the feeling that my neighbors don't like me? I'm not driving down their property values just by exisiting, but the looks I get when I step outside my door tells me that they think otherwise. I feel like kids are askin their parents "Mommy is she a chocolate human?" Im not paranoid...I know those looks are being given, my question is why?

I'm gay, however, I also Identify as Queer. To me, it's a reclaimed word, one that used to be used offensively, but now i claim it as my own identity. To me, it means someone who embraces their sexuality. It can be used as an umbrella term to unite all Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered people as a community together.

So I'm wondering, for the GLBT people out there, what do you think of the word Queer?

I am a lesbian and most people fear me because they think I want to "turn" them. Also they seem to think that because you are gay you are also a s***. Whats up with that? I am not a vampire, nor a s***, and I think people are people. Be who you are.. geesh! Besides I believe in monogamy.

Do you guys think all Homosexuals should go and take over an island, such as FIJI, or some island that not many people use. so they can form their own government, and it can be like a huge gay island. and they can have their own religion and everything!!
