Marriage should be between TWO LOVING HUMANS of consenting age. Isn't this what marriage was mean to be? The final contract between TWO LOVING HUMANS of consenting age to show to the world just how much they loved eachother. Why is this so hard to grasp by you people? Marriage is meant to be between these two humans for as long as they both shall live, no divorcing so they can go marry another human, none of that.

Danny, you knew you were gonna get all those (oxy)morons with the Male and Female thingee, right? It was just a way to expose people's ignorance, right? Cool! You got some doozies here. Funny how people can be so close-minded, ignorant, and judgemental. Let this be a lesson to you all - if this question brings up a judgemental response from you, YOU need to grow, be a better person, and learn about life and the real world. Come on everyone, it ain't all that scary to be smart and loving!! Try it!

You are a bit foolish, sorry if I offend you, don't mean to.
But what if the love fades away? What if, after years of trying, both or one is unhappy? Do you have to stay together and ruin your life, just to hold on to 'marriage should be like that'?

I do think that people should fight for their relationship and should always try to respect each other. I do have a longtime relationship, we are together for 15 years and we will probably never divorce. But if I would feel misserable in this relationship, or he, then I think we should break up. No matter what other people say.

I agree dat itz a contract that shouldn't be broken. But itz not jus suppose to be TWO LOVING HUMANS. Its suppose to be 1 man and 1 woman together 'til death do they part. But if in any case do they find that they made a mistake and shouldn't have got married in the first place, then they should waist the rest of their life with someone they weren't meant to be with. I think thats why you're supposed to get to know that person before you get married.

I can't help but notice that a number of posters here think that it's legally acceptable in America to limit my rights simply because they find my relationship "icky."

The "icky" defense has never stood up to the bright light of the legal system in this country. It didn't work with women voting, or with interracial marriage, and it won't work now.

Do I find it "icky" when I see a guy and a girl playing tonsil hockey in public? Yes, a little bit, because I'm gay. But I'm certainly not going to try and get straight marriage banned, or their relationship criminalized. That just is not how America, land of the free, works.

Am I for gay marriage? No, I'm not.
I'm for equal marriage rights for all adults.
We should ALL have the right to marry the person of our choice.

Danny, in this morning's mail I just got a letter from my Congressman, who also happens to be the Speaker of the House. He was writing in response to my letter to him asking him to back off on the Federal Marriage Amendment which would define marriage as being between one man and one woman.

I have to tell you, the bulk of his reasons for NOT wanting to allow gay marriage sounded to me like perfect reasons TO allow gay marriage. They had to do with family values, two people who love each other, forming a family, living together, perhaps teaching values to their children.

He wasn't clear whether he thought all of us gay people should just go someplace and die under a rock, or whether he thinks we should lie about our sexuality and marry his granddaughters, and give him grandbabies who will never know their father because he lives a lie, or worse yet, who will be destined to be part of a broken family because a gay man and straight woman can't usually stay happily married forever. He didn't address this issue in his letter. Sigh.

Well as you are correct, it is a bonding contract between two people, people are also allowed their freedom of speech and therefore, can marry and divorce who they please. No one has forced the other into marriage. I hope I am never divorced, but people don't get married knowing that they will get divorced, it's just that their feelings change.

I agree, although I think it should be done less dramaticly as possible, like, in terms of arguing it like the gaint gay marriage debait. It's common sense for it to be normal but people take offense and issue to it for some reason. I agree.

I believe people should be able to marry whoever they love. America is supposed to be the land of freedom - it will happen slowly. I think once the democractic party runs the majority of the government you will see more of an advancement in gay rights.

Animals aren't humans by the way ...

I agree but it sort of disgusts me to see two females and two males. Can't help it.
