The reality is not as serious as you have mentioned. There are groups of gay activist who continuosly are fighting for "gay rights" which they feel they entitle to.

The common "rights" determined for the hetero-sexual community are not suitable for them. For example: gay marriages were non-existence until recently. Elton John was happily married at last, officially to his boy friend.

There are social bias against the gays which they feel need to be regulated by laws to allow them to take actions if happened. Very much like racism etc.

These groups of people are fighting an uphill battle. They need more than just enthusiasms from their own community. They need their supporter to be "angry" so that they cause can be fueled with more power.

I've been very active in the gay community (bars, softball, politics, social organizing) in my area for the last three years and there is anger, but also frustration and sadness. Eventually you get sick of being treated like a second class citizen. You get sick of people using a complex personal characteristic of yours as a pejorative ("that's so gay"). You get sick of not having the same legal rights to your partner of multiple years as Brittney Spears had in the 54 hours she married her friend. You get sick of having strangers call you a fag or a dyke when you're just trying to walk home from work. You get sick of people who have never been through what you have been through, spent any serious time with gay people, or studied gayness to the extent you have opining about you and your "lifestyle".

I think that anger is a natural response to being treated crappy. We all feel anger at times. It is healthy and normal in moderation. I've never felt like gay people are more angry then any other oppressed minority group, they are just angry in different ways. I've also never felt that anger is bad. Anger can prompt us to action and keep you going when you need it.

And it almost goes without saying that some gay people are just more angry then others because some human beings are just more angry then others.

Because of the hate and Bias that exists against anyone who is different. They have the scars to prove in their soul!.The Christian community should accept them, they don't have to approve of their ways, but they should not "throw the baby out with the bath water". That is why there is so much hate and anger from the gay community, they have reason. But they should try to understand their view too. Some folks are scared they may be gay, deep down, and it causes them to hate and strike out.

The reverse is true. The mainstream harbors the 'gay community'.

Do you know everyone in the 'gay community'. Why do you label everyone?

I dont think they harbor anger. I live in FL, believe they are everywhere. Most gay people I have met are fun loving.

Why does this remind me of the white vs black debate? Jeez, why are we labelling each other? We are all unique individuals and we will never fully fit into a category.

I'm not sure the whole "gay community" as you put it harbors so much anger. But you do have to realize that our society is very heterosexist, to the point that gay and lesbian people have been oppressed. Would you expect them to thank their oppressors?

Why do people insist on calling us the "gay community?" You see people on tv who are gay and you accept that because they're on tv or they are vocal that they speak for all gays and lesbians? That is the SAME attitude that has us in the situation we're in with regard to topics like race, religion and culture where in reality the thoughts and opinions of people are as diverse and as numerous as the number of stars in the sky - we keep trying to make nice, neat classifications and categories for people but it just is NOT real.

Do ALL Democrats think alike or agree? No. Do all Black people think alike, agree or have the same values? No. And yet people like yourself insist on viewing groups monolithically. Is there a "white community" whose views are presented monolithically or is it taken for granted that whites can have diverse views?

What is real is that Gays/Lesbians come from all kinds of political, racial, religious, cultural, financial and environmental backgrounds. Do you really believe there is one big group that speaks for all that can be pigeon-holed with the name "the gay community?"

i think the question is.. why doest he mainstream society harbor so much anger towards the gay community.. and when you htink about it, thats like asking why black people in the days of slavery were agry at teh white plantation masters... because they've been beaten, killed, abused, attacked, put down, their rights have been violated and most of all.. HARDLY ANYBODY"S DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!!.. now does that answer your question?

I don't believe that they do. Even if they were to do so, they'd have every right to with being ostracized by society at large and not being granted equal rights.
