or is the federal or state government suppose to come and take care of it for you? This is what I cannot understand about the people of New Orleans, they are just standing there with their hand out and waiting for the government to fill it up. If you dont have insurance that is your fault and no one elses. If it is to expensive then you need to go somewhere else. People of New Orleans stand up be counted and get busy and clean up your own backyard. That maybe hard to do from the Emabassy Suites room you have been in for the last year and half...

I would like to setup a walk on campus with money going to a good cause such as the breast cancer cause. I don't know how to set it up. It would be through my sorority and it would be open to anyone. Typically how long or big is a walk usually? How do I get big sponsors like united way to help? Any suggestions?

Personally, I'd rather give to people who I know are in need, rather than donate to organized charity. At least then I know that all proceeds are going to the recipient, without some organization skimming off of the top.

As in many rural parishes we have lost our village school (which provided a makeshift village community centre) , church attendance is falling and the there should be potential to modify the large village church to accommodate a sort of community centre. Examples of successful modifications would help - also any guidance on possible grants etc available.

I've applied for numerous positions at a NGO called IREX. (http://www.irex.org), a well-known international organization. Despite having submitted my name for more positions than I can count, I have never received back any type of notice, good or bad, as to the status of my candidacy. I don't necessarily expect to be offered an interview for even just one out of every 100 or so jobs for which I apply, but most employers will at least send you a rejection letter whether or not you were short-listed for an interview. There's a notice on IREX's website which says "no phone calls please". All of this has me wondering whether the job vacancies they advertise really exist in the first place (a lot of NGO positions are contigent on funding, grants, etc., which I understand) My question is, do I risk pissing them off and call them anyway? (note: in order to remain anonymous, I've changed my real name as it appears in Yahoo! Answers as this organization still has my resume active in their files
