I mean reallly, the wealthiest of us asking us to give to solve the worlds problems. It is truly obsurd, its like the King asking the peasants to feed the lesser peasants while he picks out nice things to buy himself. Bill Gates is funding a Musical Arts program while children world wide are starving. Where are the priorities?

I've recently moved to a new area and have had some trouble from the neighbours. It turns out that they don't enjoy being woken up at 3am by drunken singing of rugby songs, they don't think it's funny when the "For Sale" signs get moved to different houses and they want their garden gnomes back.

They've got a little posse together, calling themselves a "neighbourhood watch" (pathetic isn't it?) and they seem to be under the impression that the teenage totty I bring home for entertainment are actually my kids and that they and their friends are responsible for the "undesireable and anti-social behaviour".

As they've got some close to etirement copper on side, should I come clean now and admit it's me, or should I play along and agree to better discipline my "daughters"?

So many of the people read the answers and ignore the best answers in favor of answers that support what they want to believe. Why ask if you are afraid to hear the truth? Look at the Religion section if you don't understand. Politics as well. I'm open to any answers

I'm so sick of you bone head actors using "Yahoo Answers" as a method to fooling people into thinking you actually care.

So what even happens after a winner is choosen? Are you to follow through with the ideas presented, or do you just go about your daily rutine?

I'll put my $ on the latter of the two.

When clearly, they are neither dating, nor in a relationship! Crap like, "How do I know if he likes me?" or "How do I get her to like me" ... "Is he my boyfriend because he held my hand"

BAH! You're not OLD enough to be in a relationship, so quit asking so many stupid questions about it!

National Volunteer week is in April and I need an idea for that week. I want something that I can possibly get hundreds of people involved in. Maybe even thousands if it goes over super well.

I was also thinking of starting a volunteer center at my school, you know, like with ideas about places around town that could use volunteers.

I maybe just a high school student in a small town with a lot of hard classes and commitments, but I have a lot of help behind me and I really want to inspire kids at my school that even all it takes is one person to change the world. (I know it sounds corny, but it's true.)

So any ideas on what to do to volunteer? or how to start a volunteer center?

I've been looking online to see if there are relief programs out there that will either pay your air fare or reimburse you for air fare if you want to volunteer with the Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts, but I have not found any. I'd like to help, but cannot afford to fly out there from Oregon.

I have posted before, I know, but I am looking for missions work to go overseas for at least a year for someone who isn't affiliated with a church or organization. I would like some information, contacts via website, phone number...etc. It's something I would look to do in the near future and hope to accomplish sometime soon.

should people on government programs such as welfare, food stamps, housing and so on be required, if able, to pay back these programs. either with cash after they get a job and i mean a minimal amount as not to keep them from becoming self sufficient or with labor like habitat for humanity does with their 400 hours of sweat equity. otherwise we are helping these folks to become dependant on others. can we pursue this in washington. seems like a good idea. what do you think?

I'm a senior in high school and I take a class called "Character Education". My teacher was constantly going on and on about helping others, so I said "When are we going to stop talking and take action? Let's go help out at a soup kitchen!" My teacher loved that a student actually cared enough to make this suggestion, and he asked our principal. The principal said NO. What? My school apparantly wants us all to be selfish jerks and never try to help. Shouldn't they be teaching us to care for others? How can I make my suggestion happen?

Ok, I have been a volunteer at a local senior citezens home for going on 9 months.

The residents are great, however during a Bingo activity, there is a bad apple in the bunch. He come late every single time, disrupts the other residents and has been disiplined several time for his outbursts and bad behavior, (from staff).

I have let him come in and interrupt all of this time, except the last time. I had him removed from the activity for the first time with me and feel sorry and guilty. (he yelled at me, again, he has yelled at others and threw his bingo board and chips off the table, etc)

He likes fighting so much he had a dream he fought with his brother and fell of his bed in the night. (big bruise on forehead).

Should I have had him removed from disrupting the activity yet again? It has been going on for quite sometime now, and lasts throughout the whole game.

Thanks for reading all of this and I really appreciate your advice....
