So many of the people read the answers and ignore the best answers in favor of answers that support what they want to believe. Why ask if you are afraid to hear the truth? Look at the Religion section if you don't understand. Politics as well. I'm open to any answers

I don't have a problem with some of these people that are looking for self affirmation or have an idea of what they mean but looking for someone to put it in a better way. We all like to see our beliefs mirrored in others.

But I personally find it annoying if a person's whole reason for being here is to spread (their interpretatin of) the word of God or atheists that are just here to pick a fight. I like ideas, regardless of their creed. If I see a question that interests me, I'm going to try and answer it cause it makes me think.

the other day I came up with what I thought was a really clever answer to a question. All the other answers were one liners because of the type of question (it was actually over in riddles); yet I had come up with something I really think she would have chosen because it was the only unique but valid answer. But while I was writing it out, she had already chosen the best answer (after 5 minutes) simply based on the first person that answered it correctly. I was annoyed; but the real point (maybe your point) is that because we are trained to think that riddles only have 1 answer and jokes only 1 punch line, we ignore other possibilities. (smile) I was annoyed but she missed out on what I thought was wry piece of wit.

------------------ I'd just like to ad having read slave of 12 gods that if you think its bad here you should see it in politics. I've never seen so many up and down thumbs. lol

I couldn't agree with you more. I have noticed the same thing - but what I have noticed wasn't so much with those doing the asking, but rather those who do the answering. For instance, in the Religious section, I notice that questions that will obviously elicit a Christian response or are directed at Christians, will be answered by people who have an obvious agenda to make fun or and ridicule Christians. It's fine to disagree with one's viewpoints, but some of the answers that people give on some of these questions, are so downright hostile, that one wonders why they don't just present their views on a category that caters more to their viewpoint, rather than the viewpoints of those they are feeling hostile to. This is just my own observation.

I read the religion and politics section when I fancy a good old laugh, the scary thing is though these people and their beliefs actually do exist.

A lot of people are set in their ways and will nto listen to anyone else, no matter how good an answer could be, because they think they are right, and act on that when others appear to agree with them.

If you read what you want to your ideas get reinforcement. This will improve your conviction.

If you read what you do not want to it will make you think, at least at a later point of time, why somebody said so?

That then is the starting point to your personal development.

It is human nature, we only want to meet like minded people who agree with our own view points, and later complain that there is no variety and no spice in life.
