1. The most important matter at hand is to sort out your internal organisation, and you must do that before seeking any sponsorship, otherwise you are doomed to fail. Let me explain why.

2. Any sponsor will require some information about the charity, and business sponsors will want to run a check. Remember that what gets posted to the world wide web is available to internet users everywhere. In less than 20 minutes I have found out:
a) the charity details
(i) name (ii) registration number (iii) objects (iv) year it began;
b) its contact trustee
(i) person's name (ii) address, (iii) phone;
c) other trustees' details
(i) names (×3) (ii) e-mail (×1);
d) charity's main project details
(i) name of project (ii) address (iii) phone (iv) fax (v) e-mail (vi) name of project co-ordinator;
e) significant grants (= most of total income to date)
(i) sources (×3) (ii) amount (iii) purpose (iv) period of funding;
f) the state of its financial administration
(i) previous fundraising problems (ii) overdue financial returns (iii) significant drop in income (iv) refusal of application for discretionary rate relief.

3. The point is not that I can undertake internet searches, but rather that there is a lot of available information about your charity, and when it's financial information, it is largely negative. All I have done is used an internet search engine, it's a very simple process. However imagine what a business could do with a more formal investigation.

4. I didn't want to embarrass you by posting all the data here. Nevertheless, I can provide you with the details, that I found, if you like, just so you know what is out there, if you weren't already aware (you can e-mail me through Yahoo! Answers).

5. Just as an officious bystander, I think that your project has come to the end of its useful life. There are national charities working with drug abuse in the same location, so I can't see that there is a need for a local, financially-inept charity also. These are the local branches of relevant national charities.

I agree with the previous poster - I have also been able to access this information. As an ex Lottery assessor, I wouldn't be recommending your group for a grant. People with drug and alcohol dependancy have complex needs which are better served by a larger organisation with more complex services.
