As a full fledged member of this sometimes trying, sometimes satisfying group, I wonder how big the club is.

To be a member you have to be still providing for your children while taking care of your parent(s).

I have my younger daughter (married) living in an apartment adjoining our house. I babysit my older daughter's daughter while she and her husband work. I also have my 97 year old mother living with us in lieu of a nursing home.

In response to the new "Christophobe" a word that I think means 'anyone who disagrees with my opinion' I have come up with Realityphobe. This is someone who refuses to acknowledge that people of differing beliefs have a right to exist.

This has actually been clarified hundreds, if not thousands of times on this site. I'm pretty sure my post will not stop the question from being asked.

There is no N-Word police... so technically ANYONE can say it. And, I feel like if you're white and you want to use the word, please do. But, be real about your racist intent and stop trying to blame RAP MUSIC, and the fact that SOME black people still choose to use the word.

I'm black and I don't say the N-Word. And, I think if others realized how ignorant it makes you sound, more people would stop using it as well. There are plenty of other words in the dictionary that we could be familiarizing ourselves with.

We are doing this "Chinese" gift giving at the office this year....we each bring in a gift, wrapped, and all sit around and open them...you get to steal peoples gifts and you can keep it....not really sure how to play. So if you heard of it....let me know what to bring!....I want to make it fun.

Have you ever just put everything down for a moment and thought about how big the universe is and how tiny we are in it, how none of the stuff that we are doing really matters our problems and schedules are not so important, I mean in space we are just one tiny little human race in the entire universe. I'm not a native speaker of English, so I don't find this "phrase", if you will, make a lot of sense to me. Can you explain?

On a forum, I read this popular phrase "got them hands" (aka got dem handz"). I have no idea what that means...maybe this one is out of context but here's are few more examples

Them flies are huge
Them birds got long feathers
basically, "them (something) is (something)"

What's up with using "them" in the first word of the sentence? Is it just a slangy way to say "those" flies are huge, for example?

Or mental retardation? I just used it in a reference in one of my answers referencing austism in the 90s. Do you think it's okay to use when referencing old disorders or old fashioned views of these disorders?

I know there's some people here who say people haven't used the word, retarded for a decade or two but not true in my region. I live in country bumpkin type of area where people are slow to new terminologies and new ideals to anything (to be quite blunt). It wasn't until after I started college that it was more PC to use disabled or special needs in the region.

So many students are coming to youth group with us this week. We have 10 people joining us, all for God! He is so amazing and at first I was worried that it was too many people, but I believe that God really wants them to go. I hope that you are moved by God in your life too. God bless.
