I wasn't saying that people shouldn't care about the future of humanity (children or not).
It's just a question that I decided to throw out there.

I don't have children because I don't want to bring anybody into a messed up over religious country like the United States. Who would want to? Our freaking society is so damn star struck why the hell would you want a child to be over weight, not know where Iraq is on a map, or the general history of there nation. That is why i have no children and am concerned for the future of humanity.

What does not having children have to do with whether or not I care for the future of humanity? If people in the past had cared more for the future, we would not have global warming, depleting ozone, air pollution, etc. I may be gone in the future, but I care if they have a decent planet to live on. Caring for humanity is not based on whether or not I have off spring that is going to be effected or not. All people should care for others and the world would be a far better place then it is now.

Perhaps because they are still part of humanity, and feel that they, too, are responsible for what happens to others as a result of their actions.
It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a bunch of people to make a village!

Because we need other people's children to fund our retirement when we're older. The more kids everyone else has, the more money that will be contributed to social security. We need another baby boom.
