Matthew 6:9-13
NIV:
This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Contemporary English Version:
You should pray like this:
Our Father in heaven, help us to honor your name.
Come and set up your kingdom,
so that everyone on earth will obey you, as you are obeyed
in heaven.
Give us our food for today. Forgive us for doing wrong,
as we forgive others. Keep us from being tempted
and protect us from evil.

These two are examples, it seems some Bibles have varying versions of this prayer. How do we know which one to say?

I just got back into contact with a friend that I haven't spoken with in years. We're emailing back and forth and in a recent email from him he ended his email by saying "3's and 6's". What is that supposed to mean. I don't want to ask him because I don't want to look like an idiot, but I really have no idea. Thanks for any help.

I understand Jewish people are God's chosen people, and I respect the Jewish religion greatly. Yet one thing I don't understand is why this religion is so secluded. It seems like they don't want any people in their religion, only the ones that are born Jewish. I know you can be Jewish and not be born Jewish, but you have to go through so much more if your not born Jewish to just be considered one. Why do they do this, why can't they just accept people from all walks of life into their religion. This is what confuses me.

The other day I attended a meeting of a local agriculture group that was entertaining a group of male Greek farmers who are on some type of tour in the US. Because of the time of year, most of the farmers here are in the fields harvesting so they sent thier wives so the majority of the people there were female of various ages. The Greeks would only talk to the men about the subject matter & were either rude or obnoxious to the women depending on the womans age it seemed. Just rude to older ones and overly attentive & obnoxious to the young. It was annoying to say the least. After the visitors left the government offical who was babysitting them explained that it had to do with thier culture. I don't understand that----rude is rude no matter what the culture is. Anyone know something about this?

The following is a scientific explanation of the theory of magnetism:

"magnetic field consists of imaginary lines of flux coming from moving or spinning electrically charged particles.

Examples include the spin of a proton and the motion of electrons through a wire in an electric circuit.

What a magnetic field actually consists of is somewhat of a mystery, but we do know it is a special property of space."

So, it requires "faith" to except its mysterious existance.?

For my English class I have to do a speech on the God's of the underworld from Edith Hamilton's Mythology. I also have to find a way for people to remember Hades (God of the underworld). The teacher's example was for Zeus and it was that Zeus starts with Z, and Z comes at the end of the alphabet so everyone comes before him, so he's the most important God. What should I say that will make people remember Hades? The only thing I have so far is that Hades starts with an H and so does hot, and the underworld is hot, so Hades is the God of the underworld...

These 2 guys are at it. One guy has been a sort of friend of mine for years (Ben). I work closely with the other guy (Jack).
Very long story short-- Jack is really a smart *** but funny guy.
Ben is a quiet keep to himself type.
Jack has been picking on Ben now for about a year. Picking on him in a kinda funny way. Ben has had enough of it. He is going to our H.R. dept tomorrow and request a meeting with our h.r. leader, our supervisor, and Jack. I know almost for certian that if Ben tells what Jack has been saying that Jack will be fired. Stupid (sexual) jokes is what it is.
I have a feeling that I will be called in there to either credit or discredit one or the other.... I don't want anything to do with this crap! It's childish! Someone please tell me what I can say IF they call me to h.r... How do I tell my boss that I prefer to not be a part of this? Or can I even do that? I don't want to choose sides at all. If I tell the truth it will surely get 1 of them fired.

In dining out with family, how do you split the tab if some members of the family have their significant others join the meal?

Is it fair to count the couples as 2 separate persons, or is it just being petty? Can it be considered unfair to the non couples members to cough up more than their share, especially if everybody has decent jobs. Obviously, children are exempt from this.

Here is my challenge:

Atheists, give your most rational argument for God.

Theists, give your most rational argument for the lack of God.

Try your hardest to think of something good. Limit your saracasm as best you can, please! ;)

Just wondering about this one - In the middle east; Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan etc the nationality is inextricably linked with the religion, ie: being a muslim, and anyone from these countries turning to a different religion would usually suffer the consequences.

Does that mean that British people are still regarded as Christian? The only reason I ask is that elsewhere, I've seen the statement that there are many Christians fighting with Muslims in Iraq.

That must mean then for all you that are atheists, wiccan, jehovahs witness or any other religion, you would automatically be classed as 'christian' whether you liked it or not.

In which case I can see why so many arguments are happening in the name of religion!

Or is a Christian a person who loves and believes in the one true God and has accepted Jesus as their saviour?

(Sorry if this is really long!!)

And how can the Taliban call themselves Muslims??? They are not following the Prophet (saws). What is your take on this?

"In Pakistan, women are routinely raped by anyone who has a grudge against their families, and the humiliation of their women-folk strikes at the honor of that family. Women who have been raped are punished, flogged, and imprisoned. Despite the fact that there was a female prime minister, the men got off scot-free. Often the women are then killed by their own families, because of their dishonor.

In Iran, after the Ayatollah Khomeni's revolution, more than 20,000 young virgin girls of the opposition were raped by their prison guards before they were executed, in order to prevent them going to Paradise! What perverted view of the Prophet's teachings was responsible for that decision? This is not Islam, neither is what the Taliban are doing. This is about power, and the misuse of such power to subjugate half of a population.

I am 16 years old and am serious about joining the Jewish faith. I have read all about it and decided I would like to convert, but there is one huge problem:
My whole family is Christian so I can't really go to temple or meet with a rabbi.
There wouldn't be any problem with attending temple and "coming out" as a member of the Jewish faith if I were and adult, but I'm still in high school.
When I go to college I have every intention of an Orthodox conversion.
Right now, I'm following the Kashrut but I don't know how to perform the prayers and whatnot, and don't know how to learn and join the community without seeing a rabbi.
What do I do in the meantime?
