"It seems ironic that religious institutions are the only groups in the country who want an exemption from hate speech and propaganda laws, apparently so that they can feel free to denigrate groups of individuals without any risk of being charged with a crime."

(o.O)

"the "Hate Propaganda" section of the Criminal Code of Canada (Section 318 & 319) [now prohibits] the expression of hatred against -- or the advocacy of genocide of -- [five] "identifiable groups:" people distinguished by their "color, race, religion, ethnic origin or sexual orientation." "

In other words, it is now a crime in Canada to publicly advocate hatred or genocide towards homosexuals.

But, because of Christian protests, it is okay to advocate violence or genocide against homosexuals in a church.

In other words, Christians fought for the right to tell the public we should kill all homosexuals.

I find this very difficult to understand when used as an argument by believer that somehow science and evolution are related to atheists being 'out to get you' or 'trying to take God away from you'. Scientists are Christians and atheists and Hindus and Buddhists and Sufi's and Muslims and.......and.....Acknowledging the evolution theory has nothing to do with belief in God. If you are open minded you can see that belief and evolution can coincide. What does it matter how you were created? Believe in God and enjoy your life. It isn't an atheist conspiracy. My boyfriend and I are thinking of getting married. He is Muslim and I am Catholic. We've discussed the options of getting married. The Catholic Church DOES allow me to marry a Muslim and he IS allowed to marry me. The problem comes to how we would raise our kids (Catholic or Muslim). Of course, both our faiths would like them raised in their respective places. After much discussion, we are tossing around the following thoughts and would like some advice...

1) Even though neither one of our faiths agree with birth control, we really don't want to have kids and would rather avoid it altogether give the circumstances of our beliefs.

2) If we did decide to have kids, does it seem possible to raise the kids to understand both beliefs and let them decide on their own? Would it be best to go together as a family to both the Church and Mosque every week? That way, it's equal for all?

I am alarm by the exclusive use of these people of the word CHRISTIANS to refer to themselves only and denying the other Christians like Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's to be referred as Christians.

Is this not religious discrimination in the name of Christ? Should we not file a compliant with the ACLU to stop this dangerous trend? Nowadays, it is becoming too common to hear people say that the Catholics are not Christians but rather cult-followers. I am worried that should this be not stopped, the future generations of Christians will be fighting each other just to have the claim of who are the true christians. It is chilling...sounds like the days of heretic-hunting!

My question is this: is the following your way of praying, or are you loud so those around you will know how pious you are?

"When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him . . . Matt. 6:6-8 and 7:7-8).

So a few christians have REALLY been bashing the atheists lately. Please remember that when you fight fire with fire we all get burned. Fight fire with water, its the most logical.

you are allowing hate into your life. Hate = absence of God

As we know, God shall supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory. So what in life do we have to worry about. When we realize that we don't have to worry about this or that and that in God's eyes they are very small problems, then we can focus the time spent on worrying on more constructive activities. Like winning souls for the Kingdom of God. I think that it is a wonderful thing that we are not to be concerned about the things of this world. God has told us that His grace is sufficient for us. The grace that God gives, salvation, is what we are to worry about, and when we have this there is nothing else that we are to be concerned with. So Christians, will you cast your cares upon Christ and not worry about the trivial things in life? Will you spend your time in spiritual warfare? God Bless you all.

time I asked this question, a lot of nuts said they taught the same thing. One even said Paul studied under Jesus for several years, while they never met in life, Paul merely claiming that he had a dream in which Jesus spoke to him. Aside from Paul speaking against Gays, which Jesus did not, Paul's whole philosophy differs from Jesus but still became the basis of Christianity, ignoring the real teachings of Jesus. Surely this is obvious to anyone who has read the several books (or letters) of Paul. Ignorance is not pretty in a Christian.

Christians run from death with their religious beliefs and try to scare others by saying things like hell is death. Yea? So? Sounds like I'd want to go to hell then.

I'm content with my time on Earth, but death? It's not so frightening. I'm at peace with my own death, even if I had a soul and my soul died, that's okay! It might be tiring living for eternity anyways, like eventually you've got to say, "enough experiences already!!". Death sounds pleasant really, not being morbid or suicidal, it's just that death is a good thing.

It seems to me that wanting to live for an eternity is foolish and even perverted.

I am a Christian - who attends church regularly, and very involved in church (missions team, children's ministries, women's ministries), l am raising my child in the Christian Faith, and so forth and so on...We (me and my child) are also BIG fans of Harry Potter movies. No one at church has taken me aside to say we shouldn't, however, a very dear friend of mine who has 4 kids rushes right out to take her kids to see the Pirates of the Carribean movies (which I love too) that are full of violence and re-animated DEAD people, with strong sexual overtones, etc and so forth and so on - but she mentioned the other day how her kids could NEVER see Harry Potter movies or read those books since it's all filled with witchcraft!

I couldn't believe it. Do I want my child growing up to practice magic/witchcraft, etc? NO. But do I think that my kid (a preteen) can tell the difference between a movie for entertainment and what she believes? Absolutely.

She knows Harry movies are fiction..
