Christians run from death with their religious beliefs and try to scare others by saying things like hell is death. Yea? So? Sounds like I'd want to go to hell then.

I'm content with my time on Earth, but death? It's not so frightening. I'm at peace with my own death, even if I had a soul and my soul died, that's okay! It might be tiring living for eternity anyways, like eventually you've got to say, "enough experiences already!!". Death sounds pleasant really, not being morbid or suicidal, it's just that death is a good thing.

It seems to me that wanting to live for an eternity is foolish and even perverted.

Oh, well death is not dying, but pain is part of living. Yes, the pain of dying might suck, but that's the reality of pain. Pain is just as good as happiness. It's nothing to fear.

How is wanting to live eternally in heaven not running from death?? I'm not talking specifically about Earthly death, even spiritual death I'd be good with.

Of course, it's sad when those around us die, but that's not what my question was about.

If life on earth is all you've got then death would sound pleasant, afterall we all get tired now and then and confused. So no, I wouldn't want to live that way forever.

Christians don't run from death they just don't see it as the end. It actually makes this life easier to live when you know that it has a purpose and you are not bound to this earthy body forever.

I look forward to seeing Christ and hanging out with angels and cruising the universe without a space suit, but to get THERE I have to figure out why I was put HERE.

So in a way this is school.......and death is graduation, but you have to make an effort and pass the classes to enjoy life after graduation. And yes dropping out or not paying attention in class is your choice......

Okay. Go then.

But just so you know, Isaiah knew something about living an eternity with God:
Isaiah 64:4
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

and Paul relates it in the New Testament:
9However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"

Why would you think that eternity would be boring when God created so many things that we can see now in this universe that is going to pass away which can fascinate us? In the next New Earth and New Heaven it will not pass away.

Are you so blinded to the nature that is around us that you are not fascinated by it in any way?

Haven't you seen the Hubble photos of the small part of the galaxies that we can see? Haven't you seen the wonders of the world which can only be seen with a microscope? We are so limited right now by what we can see. Why would we be so limited once sin was taken from us as is promised.

You want to go your way so much that you are willing to turn your back on what could be? I think that you just have no imagination.

Unfortunately, the sooner you die doesn't mean the sooner you see the Lord. It depends a lot on how you lived your life on how pleasant or unpleasant death can be.
Many falsely believes that once you die and enter paradise that you'll be there always. That false. Actually, take for instance the thief on the cross. Jesus told him, "Today you will be with me in paradise". Many fail to notice that Jesus didn't tell him where he would be the next do or so. Remember Adam and Eve? They were in paradise for one day, then still booted out.
Just because you go to paradise, doesn't mean you still can't be delivered unto Satan in hell.

Death is a misunderstanding among us. Most of us are taught that death is no more life. Once we are dead there is no coming back.
Death is a passing on from our outer shell that is made from dirt anyway. It is scary to go into the unknown, but it is suppose to be a rejoice time if you are saved.
I still being a christian want to live as long as I can here on earth. Heaven is going to be there for eternity.

I prefer live my life knowing there is a hell than live my life thinking that it does not exist than to realize after i die it does exist!!!

Think about it....

The bible teaches life after death in Hebrews chapter 9 verse 27.
It Reads:
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

At death only your body dies but you soul is eternal....it lives on....its the real you.

You WILL live forever my friend, there is no doubt about it, either you believe this truth or not.....the real question is, where YOU will spend YOUR eternity.
It all depends on YOU.....for God's judgment is already set.

THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!

No. Real Christians do not say that. We all know when you die you get to go to heaven and live with God, which is exciting. Hell is when God sends you if you have been evil your whole life, never repented and nerd took him as your Savior.

First Answerer - It says in the book of Revelation what heaven looks like, how it works, and explains it clearly, with measurements, even what hell looks like.

You're right. It was many times said "Who wants to live forever?" Nobody. Nothing is wrong with death. It's as right as life, even a part of it. Live your life to the fullest, and enjoy your retirement.

When someone dies, you don't cry for them, you cry for yourself. When you're dying, it's not death that hurts, it's the life which you never lived that's slipping out of your hands. For the sole reason that you fear death is there terrorism, murder, wars, death penalty, etc.

It's not that it hurts. You can get shot and not die, but it'll still hurt. It's not death that hurts.

I don't know. I enjoy life, so why not want it to go on forever, certainly as long as I enjoy it. However, I know that it will not; and, as an Atheist, I believe that this is it. However, going to sleep and just never waking up is not so bad.

The bad part is that death often involves some pain and discomfort beforehand.

I agree who wants to be on earth forever. I just wish we could live longer, healthier lives free of diease and sickness and die instead from natural causes. Eventhough it's unrealistic it would be nice.
