It's purpose is it's own propagation and to infest as many individuals as possible to continue this directive and pass on the mind-virus to others. Does this scare you, or does it sound ridiculous? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

(This is a repeat of a question asked over a year ago.)

Water is essential for life, and it is respected by all religions. Something so important as water would have people think it should be elevated to a higher position, but that would go against water's nature. It is constantly moving downward, it goes through the earth and and brings life to those that dwell within it. Roots are caressed by it and underground beings are nurished from it. It gives all that it is able to give freely to those that need it, and asks nothing in return but still seeks to continue on its way.

How would you model yourself after water?

The Bible Job 8 : 8 - 10
"Ask the former generations and find out what their fathers learned, for we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow. Will they not instruct you and tell you ? Will they not bring forth words from their understanding ?

1) I've never seen a bigger group of people preach unity, but act more divisively.

2) Many pick and chose quotations out of the Bible to support their beliefs, but when others do it, they tell us, "Well, you can't take it out of context." (Muslims do this, too.)

3) Many assume that as a non-believer, I haven't considered or tried to be a Christian.

4) Many keep approaching me in parking lots and trying to peddle their religion on me. NO OTHER RELIGIONS TRIES THIS WITH ME! I've never been approach by a Jehovah's Witness, a Muslim, a Jew, a Hindu, etc.

5) They have the most religious buildings in the U.S., they have people in the government trying to legislate their beliefs, yet many claim to be victims of a secular society.

6) Many refuse to have a sense of humor about their beliefs.

Don't worry. I have a complaint list like this for everyone myself included.

My question is: Am I wrong? Obviously, not all Christians are like this. But if I'm wrong, I'll change my complaint list.

I'm looking for opinions here. I am a Christian, and partially know the answer, but want to here what you have to say. How can obedience to God bring freedom to a person's life?

It is not uncommon in the media, in fact it seems the rule, for 'Muslims' to be interviewed or quoted without reference to the branch of Islam that they represent. On a range of matters of public concern, including political and moral issues, doesn't it matter to know whether one is listening to Sunni Islam or Shi'ite or Wahhabi or Sufi or Alawite ... ? And isn't this more particularly the case since the authenticity - validity - of certain branches is problematic within Islam itself ?

I would be glad to know whether Muslims feel this is a problem - I mean the fact that who is to speak for Islam is by no means always clear.

Will I become a believer just by reading the Bible?

Do you have any recommendations for wading through that stuff? I mean, I'm an English major, and I can read Shakespeare with no problem. But every time I've tried to read the Bible, I get bored and confused.

Are there Cliff's Notes?

What happens if I read the Bible and get a message that re-affirms my stance as an Agnostic? Will that bother anyone?

Just some discussion questions before I consider diving into this thing. I AM a college instructor you know. We'll divide into discussion groups, and come back together as a class once I'm done reading. And you'll be graded on your participation, so start talking!

(If you take offense to this question, please re-evaluate your position in life. I'm trying to have some fun here.)

My ex boyfriend was Jewish (Reform) while I was raised Catholic but in reality I'm more Atheist.

He told me that his parents asked him to date Jewish girls but then they ended up not caring because he tends to date non-Jews.

Are Reform Jews more likely to/can they marry non-Jews?

Do you think witchcraft, spells, etc. are really real? Like I watched the show Practical Magic (fun - rent it if you haven't seen it) and I've always liked that kind of stuff - not for evil, but just had an interest in it. Anyone believe in it? Anyone ever put together spells? Any good resources you know of?
