If you're a non-theist, then there is no meaning to life, meaning is an illusion. Most non-theists however have no problem with this, and generally construct their own meaning for their life, such as helping others, creating and enjoying family, or even making $$.

Most Christians do this anyways even though they don't consciously think about it. Honestly, how many Christians do you see actively doing things above and beyond praying, going to the air-conditioned and safe church, etc. There are an extremely few that even spend 6 months out of the year devoting their life to what they deem to be the most awesome and magnificant God and creator of the universe. They MIGHT... might be 'good' enough servants to get on yahoo answers and try to convert some people.

You want the meaning of life? I can tell you, I've never found it and don't believe there to be one. I figure that life is like a great journey from nowhere, into somewhere, and then back into nowhere, and you might as well enjoy being somewhere while you are here. So start helping, cooperating with, and having a good time with other people and you might just make life into a roller coaster.

Live each day as if it is your last, smile at strangers in the street, get involved with your local community, try something new, go on that dream holiday. My Dad said,'you live then you die - that's all. If you are happy with what you do then you have achieved well, you can only be happy if you are true to yourself. I believe there is an afterlife of sorts - and that the meaning of life is to get to know yourself in the sense that you are aware of when you are operating from self-will or from some pre-programmed habit that has been with you for so long you believe it is you. When you start finding out about why you do certain things, think certain things, feel certain things then it is often surprising to you that those things are 'programmed' into you - you are not what you think, feel or do. You can change anything! You are greater than your thoughts, feelings or actions. This is the meaning of life to me - to know that my life is what I make it to be!
