It's purpose is it's own propagation and to infest as many individuals as possible to continue this directive and pass on the mind-virus to others. Does this scare you, or does it sound ridiculous? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

(This is a repeat of a question asked over a year ago.)

@tomtom and others who believe they can quote Einstein out of context:

Einstein openly rejected the idea of a personal God, calling it naive and superstitious. If you do not believe me, do your own research. Certainly do not try to claim to me that Einstein was in any sense indoctrinated.

"About God, I cannot accept any concept based on the authority of the Church. As long as I can remember, I have resented mass indocrination. I do not believe in the fear of life, in the fear of death, in blind faith. I cannot prove to you that there is no personal God, but if I were to speak of him, I would be a liar. I do not believe in the God of theology who rewards good and punishes evil. My God created laws that take care of that. His universe is not ruled by wishful thinking, but by immutable laws."

—W. Hermanns, Einstein and the Poet—In Search of the Cosmic Man (Branden Press, Brookline Village, Mass., 1983), p.132, quoted in Jammer, p.123.

@tomtom: In the quote, "God does not play dice [with the universe]," Einstein refers to chaos theory, and I completely agree with him. My point is, you're ARE using his quote out of context. It has nothing to do with supernatural convictions.

If you do not understand what chaos theory is, or if you disagree when I say he refers to chaos theory in this quote, please visit the following pages.

yeah, man, yeah, whatever...

Einstein:
"science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind"
"God does not play dice with the universe"
"there are two ways to look at life: everything is a miracle and nothing is, I choose the former"

I guess the old idiot was infected, sorry you were not around to help him out, man... well, he is dead and can't infect anyone...

inscribed on an atheist's flag: "there is no god and I am his prophet!"
Do Jews accept the same thing ?
Christian bashing - the last acceptable form of bigotry in our society... keep on trucking, *pilot*....
PILOT: I speak fluent Geman, do you ? why don't you write me and we can discuss his ideas in German.
Also, you obviously have no idea what he was talking about, please tell me *in context* what he meant about god playing dice with the universe ??? I am all ears... also, you seem to be putting words in his mouth... you need to learn a lot more before you spout the nonsense which seems right to you...
now, mein herr, it is your turn...
BTW, I did NOT quote Einstein out of context, I simply quoted what he said... should I say it in German ???

When you move from physical darkeness to light, you can not deny a change even if you are blind! In the same way, when you move from ignorance/foolishness to wisdom and you have immeasurable insight, you can not deny a change. Thus, when you come in contact with God Almighty, your life can not be the same again. As the Psalmist said: The fools said there is no God. The secret of the Lord is revelead to those who fear (reverence and worship) Him. As for me , it takes nothing from me rather it adds in many folds to say: Jesus saves. Save me today . Let your name and mercy be with me. Forgive me my wrongs and write my name in the book of life. It takes nothing away from you if you say: let mercy, grace and the seal of the Lord be with me. So, all ideas (including the one that you just suggested in your question) are "mind viruses"?

An idea is not a virus. There is no credible psychiatrist who believes in "memes"

Richard Dawkins is an expert in biology; he is NOT an expert on human psychology.

The only thing I accept is that your question is obviously based on bias and phrased in such a way that it's not even answerable without qualification.

Yes, that is a very good way to look at it. Many religions have tried to start up, those that had the necessary features continued replicating, and those, such as Christianity for example, evolved heavily and today are quite robust and prominent.
