I am unclear on the gay marriage debate.

Is it that gays want to be married in/recognised by the church? Do they just want the same rights conferred by government upon straight marriages? Is it just the word marriage?

I am all in favor of letting gay people get married and have the same rights as straights and let them call it marriage if they like, but why can't religious organisations decide for themselves?

What is it you fabulous guys want?

thanks!

I understand the non-smoking point of view and I am polite, etc. but I think it is absurd that you cannot smoke outside at a cafe in New York.I think it is absurd that you cannot smoke at a bar where there is no restaurant attatched.Funny how alchohol, which kills more people than cigarettes isn't getting a bad rap.No one ever killed a family of four in a car by smoking. And don't give me the second hand smoke crap.We breathe in a lot worse than cig. smoke!
Damn-we are back to the prohibition days.I want to have my own smoking lounge but it is illegal to smoke even in a private club.Give me a break!

And if you answer no, it's not possible that I'm wrong, isn't that committing the sin of blasphemy by elevating yourself to the same level as your God on that issue, the quality of being perfect? Aren't you blaspheming him in that instance, since no human can claim they're perfect on an issue that is inherently unknowable?

Recollection of Past Lives:

"With his mind thus concentrated, purified, and bright, unblemished, free from defects, pliant, malleable, steady, and attained to imperturbability, he directs and inclines it to knowledge of the recollection of past lives (lit: previous homes). He recollects his manifold past lives, i.e., one birth, two births, three births, four, five, ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, one hundred, one thousand, one hundred thousand, many aeons of cosmic contraction, many aeons of cosmic expansion, many aeons of cosmic contraction and expansion, [recollecting], 'There I had such a name, belonged to such a clan, had such an appearance. Such was my food, such my experience of pleasure and pain, such the end of my life. Passing away from that state, I re-arose there. There too I had such a name, belonged to such a clan, had such an appearance... "

We often revere old people as wise and worthy of our respect.
But, what have they done, really?
They ignored their civic responsibilities (talking about the 80+ crowd here, not those from the 60s who would be only in their 60s now). As a result, of not standing up for what should have been right in society (racism, inequality, illegal immigration, substance abuse, business practices, government ("eminent domain" and other absurdities), and vulgarity in the media) we have the mess that is society nowadays.
What, really, do we have to give thanks to the older generation for?
They fought Hitler and Tojo in WWII when they were drafted and didn't have a choice. But, once out of the Army, what did they do for US? They made money, raised families. That is rather simple. But...to improve OUR society? What did they do for USA?
WWII was enough? Maybe?
I can't speak English to my rude landlord! My TV is full of filth! The clerks are rude!
One must KEEP IMPROVING!

I see there's so many of pople here who can't belive the existence of God, or somekind of "Supreme Power". These people based their lifestyle on Scientology,or etc.

But I saw that some of people like these still have this argument in their own mind :"I think I can agree if God is exist, IF ONLY I can see one 'proof' about it". Do I right? Some of you? Well, if I goes wrong, don't answer this question.

But, if I right, plz, tell me what kind of proof that you'd like to watch, so you can agree that God is exist? (I said only agree about the existence, not about to follow, okay?). I really mean it, only a proof that will change your mind, that God is exist. So, don't give some answer that if even it happens, you still don't believe the God is exist.

For example: "I believe if God is exist, if only He can raise up again my long pass grand mother",etc.

Thx a lot

What are these two Olive trees on the right and the left of the Lampstand? And a second time I said to him, what are these two branches of the olive tree, which are beside the two Golden Pipes form which the oil is poured out? He says these are the two anointed who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.
Revelations 4
These are the two olive trees and the two Lampstands which stand before the Lord of All the earth. And if anyone would harm them, fire fire pours fromn their mouths a consumnes their foes; if anyone would harm them thus he is doomed to be killed. They have power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophosying, and they have power over the water to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

I find it amazing that how some women think the Middle East is none of our business, yet they think Islam's treatment of women is incomprehensible, such as Afghan women imprisoned under blue burqas and Pakistani girls marrying strangers against their will. Should we pullout of Iraq or do you respect a religion that forces women into polygamous marriages, mutilates their genitals, forbids them to drive cars and subjects them to the humiliation of "instant" divorce?

I have a non-profit organization I'm trying to raise money for this Saturday from 1pm till around 5pm. I have considered sending the couple of hundred people I expect to show up door to door asking for small donations. The group I'm trying to raise money for is bloodwater missions (www.bloodwatermission.com). Does anyone know the best way to get a large group of people to raise the largest amount of money?
