This is a link to a 5 week old embryo. We look like a disgusting mutant tadpoles! I'm just saying, if in 9 months we can go from looking like that to becoming beautiful babies, why is is so hard to believe that over millions of years humans evolved from primates?

What do you think about that reasoning?

And about creatures which never see the light of day who live miles below the ocean's surface?

Surely they can't think that every single living thing created has some grand purpose which links them to something humans need?

Re. Gen. 1. When did God create the angels? Obviously before "The Creation Week?" I've heard that, "In the Beginning" is not the literal translation of Gen 1:1, but it really means, "In a beginning..." Any profound comments on these thoughts?

straight line in my life, I always took the good with the bad.I'm very respectful, don't sleep around, don't do drugs,I don't drink,I would give the shirt off my back if I could help someone. But something horrible happened the past few months that I didn't feel I deserved. My ex now who I was with for almost two years, we took it slow & he seemed great, good family, but he had depressive problems that he wanted to and would commit suicide b/c he got a onenight stand pregnant bf we met.Of course I helped him come to terms with it,only for him to leave me to be with the mom. They r not together anymore. But he became so cold and hurtful,I got so fed up with being taken advantage of I yelled at him to the high heavens,I even felt guilty for that. After, all came rushing back to me, his constant suicide threats,I feel he messed with my head. For once,I really thought God gave me something good in my life&it turned out horrible. To top itoff,I found out when I was ill in hospital
had 2surgeries

One piece of evidence that humans are evolving is the fact that we find healthy, fit people more attractive than the average person (think of people you don't already know who you would most like to have offspring with, say if you were marooned on an island - they are likely to have pretty good genes, right?). You might say, "AHA!, but why then are there any unattractive people at all?" The answer is the Shrek Effect - there are plenty of other unattractive people to pair up with. You might then say, "Hey, but that would lead to disruptive selection that would isolate the two extremes from sharing genes and lead to speciation!" My thought is that sexual reproduction is effective at mixing genes (recombination, etc), plus you do see a lot of people who get lucky with people out of their league.

What do you think?
I know this belongs in the biology section, but I like the group of people in R and S more. Over there it's like I'm helping everyone with their homework.

When you're newly acquainted with a Japanese person in a professional, mentor/apprentice context, is it normal for the Japanese person (the mentor) address you (the apprentice) formally, such as Mr. Jones (instead of just Joe, for example) until you (the apprentice) offer them the opportunity to address you casually, just as Joe instead of Mr. Jones?

I have a new job and will be starting on Thurs. We have discussed all the benefits/salary info but I haven't signed a contract yet. Is it normal to go over the contract during the first day of work? I've been looking online and it seems that most people sign their contract before their first day of work. And if it doesn't come up, should I request that I be given a copy of the contract before I start anything?

Any advice/tips about what I need to do/say during the first day of work? I'm a new graduate and this is my first job so I have absolutely no idea about what I'm supposed to do.

Jesus teaches us to forgive, to turn thy cheek. But how many times am I supposed to forgive someone without becoming a doormat? How many times is someone supposed to wrong me and I just keep telling them that I forgive them and they turn around and do it again? I just don't understand this. When is it time to say, enough is enough??

In america there are various cultures as you all know. Currently we have a problem with obesity but at the same time we have all these people obsessed with working out and being in shape...you see them running miles and biking etc..

Why are some americans not working out, while others are?
Could it be something to do with wealth? Seems the more wealthy work out more.

I have never considered this attractive. i don't see many popular female icons of contemporary American culture as attractive that personify mindless beauty. I just don't get it. How can you separate character from beauty? How can you see a shapely blond with the mind of a six year old as attractive?
