I have a new job and will be starting on Thurs. We have discussed all the benefits/salary info but I haven't signed a contract yet. Is it normal to go over the contract during the first day of work? I've been looking online and it seems that most people sign their contract before their first day of work. And if it doesn't come up, should I request that I be given a copy of the contract before I start anything?

Any advice/tips about what I need to do/say during the first day of work? I'm a new graduate and this is my first job so I have absolutely no idea about what I'm supposed to do.

no...i don't have anything in writing. we discussed all the details over the phone. She mentioned that we'd go over the paperwork on the first day of work but that's about it.

You should have received your offer of employment stating bens/salary when you were offered the job at least.
Personally Ihave never accepted a job without having received my contract of employment (which is the correct term al least in the UK). Do you have anything in writing?

The key words are thank you. Do your best. Dress nice. Be glad to be there. There are too many people without jobs to be worried about things such as this. As a recent graduate you should carry that newness with you. Be flexible. Unless you are not entirely sure how you will proceed in the first place. It can be considered rude to keep people waiting in any case. Good luck...
