most of the answers are: "DON'T KNOW,DON'T CARE,DON'T BOTHER" then why the hell you believe in something you have no knowledge about.....I WILL TELL YOU WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW
076.001 Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned?
076.002 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight.
076.003 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will).
076.004 For the Rejecters We have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire.

My point of view is we do not have the knowledge at this time to know that and that is all. We can theorize based on what we know but we cannot answer that yet, but what we do know is that the best evidence currently available to us supports evolution or adaptation of some sort. Not the complete Darwin theory but certainly parts of it.
Thus far we have nothing even remotely close to an answer of a single deity other than a book written on paper spanned over a period of at least 1500 years. Since the paper it was written on came at least 1000 years after its first chapter (if you go by Adam and Eve being first inhabitants-therefore they had to pre exist before clay writings and such) it is dictated at the very least and not a record of events.

Atheist don't subscribe to a particular view but science does believe in the origin of species by Darwin. What difference does the knowledge of the past biological relevence bear on today or what atheist think...?Atheists merely omit god and the concept of god from their beliefs.

The same way every other living thing originated, by evolution. This has nothing to do with atheism and everything to do with biology.

As an atheist, my response is, "Who the hell knows?"
The difference between atheists and theists is that we atheists don't feel a gnawing need to know such things. It is what it is.

Don't know, don't care. Having the answer doesn't change anyones lives anyway, even though theists think it does.
And, before you mention Darwin, please remember that evolution does NOT attempt to explain origins, only biodiversity.

Evolution is one theory, however, that theory, to quote Darwin, does not preclude God.
