In most languages that use the Latin alphabet, the consonants correspond to roughly the same sounds, such that in any of those languages you can guess how a word is pronounced and get it almost correct.

Why is it that in Irish and Scots Gaelic consonants are pronounced completely differently to other languages. How does bh become v in Siobhan? Why is Niamh pronounced "neev"?

If yes, then what kind of a "loving god" would do such a thing?

If no, then what is the point in the christians running around spreading the "good news"?

I mean, if the people who haven't heard about jesus don't go to hell anyway, what is the point in telling everyone about this, other than giving them an opportunity to either accept or reject the message?

And if they reject the message, then they go to hell, right?

So, weren't they better off before you "helped" them?

Before you showed up to "save" them, they weren't going to hell anyway.

If this is true, then you are running around sending people to hell.

Not very good karma...

Or very Christ-like...

Hello everyone,
This is a discussion about people's birthday dates. My birthday is in May. There are no major holidays or important days except for Mother's Day.
-Nov. 30 to Jan. 15 is a "bad" date since you will most likely already celebrate and get gifts.
-Dec. ~18-23 since these are final days. You don't want a semester final in school or college as a birthday gift.
-Beginning of school (Aug.-Sep.): Who wants to start school on your birthday?

Any to add or modify? When are you birthdays and if they are on a holiday, how do you cope with it?

Really any suggesions or comments are great. Good answers and explanations of birthdates will recieve points. Thanks for your opinions!

For those of you who are religious and believe in heaven or an afterlife, what do you think it will be like? I am not suicidal or near death, I've just pondered this for a long time. I wonder if heaven will have the same things we enjoy on Earth-for example TV, videogames, food, sex, sports, pets, travel, etc. I wonder if we can still have love relationships in heaven or form new love or friend relationship in heaven. Will we be able to talk to each other in heaven? After we die, do we wake up in heaven immediately or do we travel up towards heaven or go through purgatory first? Or will heaven be completely different than anything on Earth?
