It depends. Do you believe they work? That answer pretty much determines it.

Magickal talismans do work if prepared and used properly. There are many different amulets, such as the ankh, the cross, four leaved clovers, horseshoes, etc. Each one has a different use, though some have similar uses, and the choice usually depends on your belief system. It also depends on if they have been charged properly, and belief is not necessary, although it does help. If you are trying to charged one, true belief is necessary, just like it is with any other religion or way of life. Also, if you are trying to charge one, it would be wise to find a professional to do it for you, or do some studying of pagan religions and belief systems, so that you do it properly. If just interested in buying one, do some research of stores in your area that sell "magickal items", so that you don't end up going to one that isn't the real thing, and getting screwed out of your money. Good luck!

Sometimes; but often they are made with very little thought and not much magical knowledge, and are just a way for people to spend money.

An amulet or talisman must be specifically designed for you, or for the specific magical purpose. It is normally made of precious materials, though occasionally very rough but natural materials are used. It should incorporate symbols and words that are very specific, and selected with a thorough knowledge of their significance.

It is all too easy to have a charm backfire, due to the Witches Rede: what you do returns to you three-fold. For example, if you are careless in your use of symbols, you could be effectively performing a negative spell on someone who does not deserve it. And that negativity, when returned to you three-fold, could do you really serious harm, even kill you.

Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards . . .

Yes, but all amulets must be soaked in Rhino snot for 12 days to allow the `vibes` to come alive. Talismans are a little easier, spray them with Weasel piss, and kiss them whenever you need some luck.

If you want them to work. Otherwise, no, not really.

Remember -- magick only works when you understand it doesn't exist. Once you realize that, it works quite well.

Yes! Belief in them are a very important part of it. But, not everything. Focused intention and purpose is the key...

No, but people's belief in things like that seems to. And for you Christians, how many of you wear crosses around your necks? have statutes in your house or yard?
