How much have you researched other paths such as Wicca? I totally commend you for wanting to explore alternatives that can help you and suit you. And it's OK to be a little fearful of the unknown in your discoveries too. Congrats on taking the first steps to finding your own way!!!

I would suggest that before you look for a guide or teacher, you do a little digging into the religions you are interested in. Wicca? Voodoo? Paganism? Go to your local library or Borders bookstore, and explore a little. Don't fear knowledge. So some searching on the web as well. There are wonderful sources of info out there.

Once you find something that seems to feel right to you, then buy a few books, and continue learning. After that, seeking a mentor might be a good idea.

Good luck, and again...congrats on starting yoru search!

Please feel free to contact me via email with any questions you may have. My path is somewhat unique and I never expect any two people to walk the exact same path.

I was raised Jewish, began studying Wicca in the 70's and found a wonderful "balance" in my life. My college major was religious studies with an emphasis on eastern philosophical based faiths.

My closest friends include Native American Healers, devoutly practicing Christians, Conservative Jews, Buddhists and, of course, Wiccans.

Because of the many influences in my life, and my various studies (oh, and a married a wonderful man who got a college degree in biblical study - but later converted to Judaism and practices his own blend of Jewish-Wiccanism).

I am not a pagan, as I believe in one Divine Source - but here is a starting place for you I suspect.

Evaluate your own core beliefs - I don't mean just what you've been taught throughout your life - but what you actually believe.

For example, do you believe in any form of Divinity? Is is single? Multiple? Search within for what resonates, what feels like the truth that lifts you up and makes you want to be your best self.

Then, as others have said, read read read read read. The more you learn about both yourself AND the religion of magick (Wicca) the more you'll KNOW in your heart of hearts, if this is your path.

Oh, and do know that just because I am a monotheist - not all Wiccans are. Feel free to contact me for further help if you'd like.

Brightest Blessings

you could join a book club, such as "one spirit"

they have all kinds of books that might peak your interest such as "the solitary witch" among others.

not to put anyone down or to belittle your efforts for finding a "guide," but, this may not be the best or most appropriate place to begin (or end for that matter).

good luck in your search

p.s. always remember that energy is all around us, it is the very essence of our being. we can absolutly "move" energy throughout time and space, controlling the outcome of it's intention, which to some can appear to be magik, because it is a form of. crystals and stones, along with candles, when lit for certain purposes also emit magik...because they are living elements.... fire and earth
please use your gifts wisely, you have many and are searching.

Something strongly tells me that you are far from ready to begin the path of Knowledge.
Do you really know yourself?
It is imperative that you do.
You must be sure of who you really are before you embark of such a journey.
Before a guide would even consider becoming your mentor(this is not a usual practice) you would need to pass through several tests and trials.
Look deep within your profile,(self) and decide who you really are.

I can't speak for wicca but I will give you the same advice that I give for people going into my own faith. Do as much research as you can yourself. Just like in my religion allot of people will say they are of a certain belief system are not. I used to have a friend who was ]Wiccan and she said one of the worst problems in her faith were the people who just said they were pagan but had never bothered to read any of the books related to the faith.
And I told her that it was kind of funny because the biggest problem in my faith are the people who say they are Christians but have never read the Bible.

True Christians are told to study the scriptures daily to find out what is so. To me that is good advice for anyone of any faith.
