people, are afraid of what they don't understand, and they hate what they are afraid of.
i wish i had the authority to apologize to you and your son on behalf of humanity. there is absolutely nothing wrong with homosexuality.

I know they do and they shouldn't, so I understand it was born in them. I'm not Gay but I know a lot of people that are I treat them just the same. It use to be a gay woman was like they dressed like a man wear their hair, watches, mens slacks , shoes their hair would be just like redneck haircut. They'd have a watch with chain on it in their watch pocket. It just use to be different but now some of the beautiful and best looking people there are gay and you wouldn't know unless you were told. I think a long time ago they kind of over did It so I was told.and disgusted some people. They were afraid of them, that is what my Mom told me.

For the same reasons they judge anyone different from themselves. Ignorance, immodesty, feelings of superiority, feelings of inferiority, the desire to feel superior, xenophobia, the fear of anything different or strange. You might review also what your feelings were toward gays before you found out your son was gay. Were you completely supportive at that time? Or was an emotional connection necessary before you were able to understand?

society tells them to judge, so they are just brainwashed and do as they think they are supposed to..

most superficial and close-minded people are actually very weak and insecure. they'd rather judge your son because they are too ashamed to look in the mirror and judge themselves..

these people are missing out on some great friendships. since realizing my bisexuality, i have opened up and reached out to gays and bisexuals and i have made lots of good friends.. we're all human beings.. sexuality doesn't change anything..

I'd say there are two main reasons....Religion and the "ick" factor. Most religions preach against homosexuality, and followers of those religions base their biases on those preachings without any other merit. The "ick" factor is just that; if it is not something they engage in or have any desire to engage in, they may find it disgusting and they judge based on that personal bias. Personally, it never bothered me if people were disgusted by it, but when their bias was based on religious preachings, I always thought that was ridiculous. For me, I have the same personal bias (the "ick" factor) against heterosexuals, but I don't judge them. I just don't think they should parade their heterosexuality in public (little humor for ya ;)

I will answer this and expect a lot of thumbs down.
You are very right to love your son, regardless of whether you agree with his lifestyle or not. As a christian, I may not agree with the lifestyle, but it is because of my understanding of the Bible. However, hatred towards anyone, or proclaimed self-righteousness and perfection, is a sin also. Bottom line,, Jesus demonstrated to us the need to love everyone, and if I don't do that, then I am just as guilty of sinning as those I criticize. Keep loving your son. It's the right thing to do.

All people make judgments every day about everyone in spite of what they say.
Some are afraid, some don't know what to do or say, some bite their tongue and say nothing, some say dumb things and some shouldn't flaunt their personal life so others can make judgments. Don't ask, DON'T TELL. What's the point of telling? Why do I need to know?

Some people just don't have a life and try to be little others. But don't worry about it, I'm pretty sure your son is a very nice person.

It isn't just you who is saying, "I dont understand people some times". That is the root of it. But judging is an automatic reaction. People without judgement are either sick or dead. The issue is the conclusions that they draw.

Mostly out of fear. They think that if they brush past some one who is gay it will rub off on them and they will become gay. But the the people who hate that much have such a low mentality that it could probably happen to them.
