how do you know that you are interpreting (whatever) spiritual text in the correct way it was first conveyed?

example- the word sin was derived from an archery term that meant to miss the mark.

Okay, so I want to get a present for my 57 year old father.
He doesn't like sports anymore so suggesting gof clubs would be terrible. :]
He works as a computer programmer and he has a good sense of humour.
I'm tired of getting him gift cards because a lot of the time he doesn't really use them. [unless it's like home depot or lowes]
He likes working on things on the house.
So in conclusion.. I would love to get him something meaningfull that he'll really enjoy. Plus, it'd be nice if it was under 30 dollars.

Why is it socially acceptable to comment on how skinny a very thin, perhaps underweight, person is, but never for an overweight person? For example, you would never say to an overweight person, "Do you eat a lot?" Or, "You need to lose weight, eat less!" But to thin people, who might be considered underweight, they get comments like "Oh, you're so thin! Do you eat?" Or "You need to eat more, you're too skinny" Or"You don't have an eating disorder, do you/" I think to both it's rude and inappropriate and out of line. Skinny people who struggle with being too thin are just as self-conscious about their bodies and their thinness as people who struggle with their being overweight are. Why can't people realize this? By the way, I am basing this question on personal experience---yes, I am thin and struggle with being too thin---I just feel like telling people to get over it and stop making it seem like it's such a big dea

What I got is that the apes share a common ancestor with us. It could have been a polywog. From whatever it was, we branched out with the human branch eventually having a brain that evolved to include reasoning and consciousness.

Do you believe that we have a soul? If so, when did we "develop" this soul? Did the neanderthals have one do you think?

Personally, I think that anything that breathes has a soul.

what if that who you believe to be God escaped?If Jesus is our Creator as the polytheist trinitarian pagans believe, then how could he run away from King Herod to Egypt, while GOD Almighty in the Old Testament Punishes to death those who even curse his Holy Name?

hey, I read on this site many question about guys losing bets and dressing up as girls. An to a lesser extend girls losing bets and having to strip in front of guys/friends or stangers.

Now we know 95% of these bet are fake. An its just a fantasy. This is perfectly nature and 15 years ago if the net was in full force I would have been posting about losing bets also. I use suffer from the same fantasies.

My question is - have this urge to be humiliated has been so strong that you guys/girl end up making these bets for real just to lose. If so, did it live up to the fantasy ?

I was talking to a girl friend of mind about this. Who as a teenager fantasied about being caught naked. An when she turn 19, she lost a bet to a group of guys on purpose. A bet which involve her stripping. Trouble is her imagination/fantasy was totally different when it come to real life. In real life when she had to strip she had a panic attack and could not do it. The guys let her off.
