He was being rude, but to be politically correct she should say "happy holidays". That covers everyone.

I dont think there is really a wrong or right to this question because not everyone celebrates christmas or kwanzaa. Most people say merry christmas because we have been for generations and all of a sudden there is an issue with it - so to be politically correct you should say Happy Holidays when doing a public function since you dont know if everyone doing the present buying is celebrating christmas.

Actually the best response should have been, "Oh, I'm sorry. Well have a Happy Kwanza too!" Don't feel bad for saying Merry Christmas if that's what you celebrate and that's what's a habit for you to say. Most people who celebrate different holidays will take the sentiment as it was intended and not be offended.

Personally I'm an Athiest and when people say "Merry Christmas" it's meant to be a nice greeting and I accept it. But honestly I think they should be considerate of other religions and Holidays and say "Happy Holidays" But your mom offended this man, and by disregarding his holiday nd beliefs after he said them, it was INCREDIBLY rude. (also please do not type like that, it doesn't really help your case by saying da)

Kwanzaa isn't really a holiday, people just got bored. HOWEVER, before people start slamming me, you should return the greeting. Even if you don't believe in the holiday, it is rediculous to make a fuss over it. The point trying to get across is a friendly greeting, they aren't trying to force anything upon you.
PS: All this "political correctness" is crap. Say what you want to say, your opinions should be voiced, no one can take away your freedom of speech.

I think this whole thing is getting out of control who cares if someone says merry Christmas there doing it to be nice i think your mom should just tell people like that to take a short leap off a big cliff. ( and tell him happy Kwanzaa on the way down )

I think it's so ridiculous that people are getting so-called "offended" of MERRY CHRISTMAS! You say what you want! That's why we have freedom of speech. If people don't like it, screw em! You are doing the polite thing! People just want something to ***** about! AND....they say Christmas is the happiest time of year...YEAH RIGHT! More like the pissiest time of year! Come on people....be HAPPY!

So people think you should be able to tell their religion just by looking at them. However, in the future, to be PC, go with "Happy Holidays" --- it's much safer.
