If Islam is such a "perfect" and unified religion, why can't the two largest sects of Islam agree on what should happen to a genocidal maniac?

The new guideline from the Department of Health and Human Services advises states to help single people in their twenties to steer clear of sexual relations in their fifty million dollar funded Abstinence Education Program. It is not a 'requirement' but a strong suggestion to states to promote this.

When asked, the reason given for this program from the Dept of Health and Human Services is to combat a rise in out-of-wedlock births.

Please share your thoughts and opinions on this.

Hi!
I'm thinking about starting a non-profit organization in the Appalachian part of Kentucky to help those with inadequate homes, without food, clothes, or personal items. Say if a family didn't have heat in their home, we would install some form of heating. What should I call my organization? And how could I raise money to do this?

I was thinking about the name "Appalachian Care Project".

Reading some of the answers here it really really bothers me that people are so decieved. It makes me wonder how they get through life believing what they believe.

Has education failed us this poorly? Is it the parents? Is it Church?

My friend died recently so I've been thinking a lot about what happens after we die.
I hate to sound shallow, but is it necessary to re-dress the body or for makeup to be applied? I don't want anything like that when I die. I'm paranoid enough in life about people looking at me, I wouldn't want anyone to have to look too closely at my corpse, nevermind my naked corpse. That's one of my fears of dying, people seeing me like that.

Can you be cremated exactly as you died, same clothes, same makeup? And not let any family or friends view your body?

What happens during embalming? Is it neccessary? Do they have to undress the body?

Maybe I've been thinking into things too deeply, but I'd like to know.

There are other species that could have not changed "within the species" in a period of 4.4k years (that's right after the flood). One of the great claims of Creationists is that all dogs, foxes, and wolves we see decended from 2 "dogs" that Noah saved in his ark, but mathematically and GENETICALLY it is impossible for there to be such variety in 4.4k years. The same applies to humans and different races in 4.4k years, so how do you justify this?

Why do we continue to have this debate. We have been for over 2,000 years. Science is a tool we humans discovered to uncover the machinery of life. Which in all cases, does not require a designer for it's beauty and intricacy.

Religion (and God) is a human invention to help people who are lazy better understand the universe. Religion is forever stuck in the past, never evolving. What people of "faith" are doing is believing and seeing the world the same way as those who lived 2,000 years ago.

Science continues to refine itself, always evolving. From the early discoveries made to today and what we will discover tomorrow. We have a better understanding of who we really are, where we are in the Universe. We can even begin to answer the biggest one, why.

I like the fake wholesomeness, it reminds me of a Hollywood movie like Easter Parade, all the houses look clean and homely with white picket fences but really you know they are just backlot sets, empty facades with nothing but scaffolding inside the front door, and the happy Christians are like lovely Judy Garland singing sweet songs but look a little closer and her eyes are spinning like tops from all the speed she's on.
