What started it? And what's the whole story behind it? I love Christmas trees, but I'm just wondering what started it all, what made everyone hold to this tradition?

For me the three good are:
that I care, that I try to listen, and that I seek to learn.
The not so favorites are:
I talk too much, I can be lazy at times, and I worry too much what others think.

I just needed a bit of support----not pages of bible, or religious tracks, or any of that (trust me--born and raised with hellfire and brimstone--Catholic Eh!!??) Believe in a Higher Being---whatever He/She/It may be--just kinda peeved right now--so to appease some of you I shall now go to my corner with my prayer book and rosary.

I work in a restraunt and notice that when I have parents (younger and older) coming in to eat with their kids, they let their kids misbehave! If they're babies, they're worst! Don't get me wrong I LOVE children but when they come in and sit in a highchair, they sling food everywhere, spill drinks, just make a complete mess! and the worst part is that the parents think it's "cute" or something! What is it b/c you're not at home and don't care 'cause you don't have to clean up the mess? I know it's my job and I don't necessarily mind but I just think it's rude to let you're young'ins make a mess everywhere and then not have any decency to clean up at all!? Also, there are little kids and they'll run and scream and jump on booths and stuff! It's not only rude to the people that serve on you but to others around you to let your kids/babies cry and cry and you do nothing to stop it. At least go outside and try to calm them down! I just don't get it????

Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: first, a right to life; second, to liberty; third, to property; together with the right to support and defend them in the best manner they can. These are evident branches of, rather than deductions from the duty of self-preservation, commonly called the first law of nature.
Just and true liberty, equal and impartial liberty, in matters spiritual and temporal, is a thing that all men are clearly entitled to by the eternal and immutable laws of God and nature as well as by the law of nations and all well grounded municipal laws, which must have their foundation in the former.
In short, it is the greatest absurdity to suppose it in the power of one or any number of men, at the entering into society, to renounce their essential natural rights, or the means of preserving those rights, when the grand end of civil government, from the very nature of its institution, is for the support, protection, and defense of those very rights...

Please understand that this question isn't intended to be disruptive or critical. This is a question that I've had for a long time, and nobody has been able to adequately explain it to me. I'm a lesbian, I expect that the queer community I live in will be comprised of other homosexuals and bisexuals. But transgendered people are not a minority due to sexual orientation. Can somebody explain the connection to me? Why do we now have a "T" in "LGBT?" Thanks!

So that I play fair, I'd have to say some social movements, like abolition and the move against child labor, had a strong push from christianity.

What do you think?

I ask a hypothetical question to this crowd, expecting hypothetical answers, and all I get are excuses as to why my HYPOTHETICAL question would not occur. It's a damned question, use your minds and just say what you think, don't tell me "God would never let this happen."

Biblical prophecy on the advent of Muhammad (PBUH)

John 4:15-16
“If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father and He shall give you another Comforter that he may abide for you forever.”

Muslim theologians have said that “another Comforter” is Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah; and him to “abide forever” means the perpetuity of his laws and way of life and the Book (Qur’an), which was revealed, to him.

note: ANOTHER COMFORTER, means another not the same (holy spirit)

John 15:26-27
“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.”

note:conforter + spirit of truth

John 16:5-8
“But now I go my way to Him that sent me and none of you asketh me ‘whither goest thou?’ But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled you heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and approve righteousness and judgment.”

John 16:12-14
“I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now. How be it when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and he shall show it unto you.”

note: in the Quran God says that Muhammad is not talking from himself, also God revealed the Quran to him trough the angel gabriel because he was illetrate he couldn't write and the prophet recited each verse and chapter he received to people in a periode of 23 years without any contradiction

John 16:16
“ A little while and ye shall not see me: and again a little while, ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.”

Muslim theologians have stated that the person who is described by Jesus to come after him – in the above verses – does not comply with any other person but Muhammad (PBUH) the Messenger of Allah. This ‘person’ whom Jesus prophesied will come after him is called in the Bible ‘Parqaleeta’ This word was deleted by later interpreters and translators and changed at times to ‘Spirit of Truth’, and at other times, to ‘Comforter’ and sometimes to ‘Holy Spirit’. The original word is Greek and it’s meaning is ‘one whom people praise exceedingly.’ The sense of word is applicable to the word ‘Muhammad’ (in Arabic).
note1: Muslim are waiting for the return of Jesus who will brake the cross and bring all religions toghether in one way the true path the submission to the will of God wich means Islam in arabic.

note 2: be carefull with the deletion from the bible and addition and misinterpretation .

Mathew 19:16-17 -
" And behold, one came and said unto him, 'Good master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?' And he said unto him, 'Why callest thou me good? (There is ) none good but one (i.e) God, but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.'"

In the above verses we note this acknowledgement of his submissiveness (to God's Will)
Mathew 21:45-46 -
"And when the chief priests and pharisees had heard his parable, they perceived that he spoke of them. But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared teh multitude because they took him for a Prophet."

Here it is proved that all those who believed in Jesus during his lifetime did not believe in him being God or the Son of God or one in the doctirne of Trinity; but they believed in him as being a prophet only. This is indeed one of the strongest points of evidence against those who believe in teh Divinity of Jesus (Incarnation of God) if only they pondered.

Mathew 24:36 -
"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no , not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

This is a definite proof that the Final Hour is unknown to any but Allah, thus Jesus knowledge is imoerfect like all the other men; Allah Alone is All-Knowing, Omniscient.
Mathew 26:39 -
"And he (Jesus) went a little farther, and fell on his face and prayed, saying, 'O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not is a servant of Allah. He (Allah) Alone can cause the change.'"

the Bible (theNew Testament) was not written during Jesus's lifetime but long after the occurrence of the events described, having been retained in the memory of the people.

One solution could be: All the Hotels and Restaurants in metro cities can contribute the left-over food each day for the Govt. trucks to carry and distribute it to homes designated for beggars.
Is this feasible?

Any other options ?

This is an open question with no particular subject and is not related to any particular catagory (although I had to pick one to submit the question).

Share whatever you wish - good, bad or indifferent.

My only two requests are to please...
1.) Make an honest effort.
2.) Keep it clean for the sake of the kids in the forum.

I intend to put this up for voting (unless something really strikes me). I'm curious to see what the public would vote as Best Answer.

Thank you.

I do not understand. Besides if it makes the person who believes life happier healthier etc. what is the difference. Why do so many people want to prove God does not exist and that we are just thrown here by chance. What up with that?

I am very scared I blow it because I have never dated someone 'inexperienced'. We have alot in common. I just want to know if you guys have some advice on this topic.
