I do not understand. Besides if it makes the person who believes life happier healthier etc. what is the difference. Why do so many people want to prove God does not exist and that we are just thrown here by chance. What up with that?

Why does it matter though what you believe if it makes you happy. I was raised buddist and christian and I DO NOT criticize anyones belief. It just is not cool to look at hate in any form.

Yaaaaawn, first of all there aren't "so many people" Atheists make up less than 5% of Americans so uhhh thats point number one. Second, religious people are not neccessarily happy and healthier, depending on an imaginary friend aint healthy last time l considered it. But seriously, without sounding like lm trashing religion. Everybody has the right to voice their opinion, Christians job is to spread the faith, but they get mad when an Athiest/Agnostic speaks out ehh.

Most likely because, they, like myself, have had religions and beliefs crammed down their throats by their parents or relatives or clergymen since they were children with no more of an explanation than "Believe in God and go to church because I said so." If you have children, NEVER force your personal/spiritual beliefs on them. All it will do is cause resentment between the two of you. Let them find their higher power on their own, just as long as it's not like Satan worshipping or anything. That's not cool.

People have the right to believe anything they want, within reason. When they begin to force their beliefs on others, especially when their offer has been rebuked, then we have a problem.

It is because Organised Religion has been guilty of so many abuses over the millennia, and people tend to blame God for those abuses. If you think about it, you can't really blame them.

I guess you never went out of your way to help someone in a major way, at great expense of time and money, and had them thank GOD and ignore YOU.

Let that happen a time or two, and I tellya, you'll be ready to tar and feather any and all of these imaginary deities and comfort spirits that people go around depending on.
