I think you explained it yourself... it IS an unfair double standard of society brought on by years of brainwashing from Hickville... very sad. I personally would love to see you in a skirt with stockings and heels! *smiles* Hot gay guys rock... and when they cross-dress, it's even hotter! lol All guys should wear dresses... well, not the ugly ones. THEY can be straight. There's no point in me ogling them. lol

The sad fact is, many men in our society feel their masculinity is threatened when they percieve other men as GBTQ. If you try to dress like a woman, men may feel doubly threatened because:

A: they may have actually thought you looked hot at first
B: they think you're trying to have sex with them
C: simple fear

Most men are raised on homophobia, and many of them continue to feel their sexuality threatened by queer men. Though you may not identify as a non-heterosexual, non-transgender etc., they will still associate you with the queer community because of the internalized homophobia and their lack of security with their own sexuality. It's a double standard, yes, but until the whole sexual revolution thing has run its course, and once men are comfortable enough with their own sexuality, it's a standard that won't be disappearing anytime soon.

darlin....i wear either a suit and heels to work everyday or a skirt, blouse, blazer and heels and i am transgendered. so there is no way i would ever support the question of you being an ***(?). i think that EVERY woman (gg and TG) should wear a suit to work. its more professional, etc. besides it gives the men of this world something to do other than be jerks at times.

because when women dress like men (for example, wear pants instead of the traditional skirt thing), it's because they want to be more comfortable. or they dress like men because men find it sexy.

when men dress like women, they are teased by fellow men (but not usually by women), because men are supposed to be the strong, tough sex - like don't show your emotions, or whatever, as opposed to women.

and also, there are women who dress like men to an extra degree (i.e. wear "manly clothes"), and they're seen as lesbians. so it's not really a double standard. i think it's just to the degree to which you dress like the opposite sex.

We blinked the first time--but now--oh well--to each his own--his bill is paid (tho the optician is still sucking in her breath over the woman with a beard!!!)

Hmmm.... I am not sure. Maybe if you worse flats and long skirts and more casual women's clothing, you wouldn't get labeled as much. (Besides, with longer skirts, you can get away without wearing stockings.)

And heels are bad for your toes.
