Of course Catholicism is a religion. It is, far and away, the largest (and original) Christian denomination with more than one billion parishioners.

Catholic with a big "C" and catholic, with a small c mean two different things.
Catholic (big C) generally refers to the Roman Catholic Church, although there are many other Catholic Churches, such as Greek Orthodox Catholic, Romanian and others in communion with the Holy See in Rome (the Pope). There are other groups that do not submit to the Pope, but call themselves Catholic, as well and practice a form of Catholicism.
The word catholic (small c) means universal. All Christians could consider themselves members of Christ's universal (or catholic) church. However, not all denominations of Christians feel that way, but some groups like the Episcopalians and Anglicans do feel that if you believe in Christ you are a member of His catholic church.
The high churches pray every week that all of Christ's churches will someday unite in their common belief. Some churches believe that their denomination is the only correct route and do not accept others as even being Christian. It probably isn't good to judge whether others are Christian or not. You do need to judge which road and practices you want to follow and what is right for you. My guess is the Holy Spirit has a hand in that and helps to guide us individually.

The word "Catholic" means universal.
The church which Jesus personally founded to lead all men to salvation, has been called the "Catholic" Church since the early 2nd century.
Based on that, and since the Catholic Church also forms the basis for every Christian denomination, it should qualify as a true religion.

If you look in the encyclopedia you will discover that it is the oldest and largest Christian religion in the world. In fact, it is the largest religion of all religions. God has made it so. It says in Acts: ...and each day they added to their number those who were being saved...

Catholic means universal, in reference to the fact that the revelation of the Gospel through Jesus Christ was and is for all mankind not exclusively for people of Hebrew decent, as was believed by some in the very early stages of the formation of the Church. Catholicism is Christianity. Please don't flame me, I love my separated protestant brothers and sisters.

it's a sect.
the prohet Muhammed said
the prophet said the jews were divided on 71 sects, the christians on 72 sects and the muslim will divide on 73 sects all of them are in the hell fire ,only the one wo keep the commands and don't change anything from what the prophet left for us and his companions.
you need to strive hard to find the straight way.
the Christians say all the ways go to God.
Islam teaches that only one truth, one way , one straight path to God, the way of all the prophets < worship one God without any partner, follow the menssager of God, follow the commandments of God submit to the will of God wich is in arabic Islam.
