When Christians point out discrepancies in other religions, we're being mean and intolerant.

When they point out a problem in Christianity, they're being brave and educated.

What gives?

It says that the current Pope Benedict XVI (which is #7) is going to rule for a short time, and the next one is going to be an impersonator of John Paul II that is going to be the Anti-Christ.

I don't give much though to this because some people have said that is Bush, others now say is the president of Iran, and I have heard of this guy called Javier Solana too. I didnt read the whole page, so I don't know what it says completely.

In French, I know d'accord translates directly as 'Ok'. However, does this mean it can be used in the same way as 'oui' or 'je comprends' in response to a statement? Or can it only be used as an agreement? E.g. if a frenchy said, 'J'habite en France' could I say 'd'accord' as in 'Ok'? Just wondering? Thanks.

Hello everyone, I'm Saint Nearly. Two months ago I was sainted by Pope Constance, whose given name is Lucinda Ann Grealton, who is neither Catholic nor male, is not even Italian and speaks broken Latin. She has consented to the sainting of eight other Americans in addition certain persons of other nationalies, who meet the criteria. Incidentally, miracles are not manditory for sainthood, for Jesus makes no mention of such a rule. All this does not please the Catholic Church -- but I ask you, where did they get the monopoly over the institution of the Papacy? The answer is simple, they don't have the monopoly. Who foisted the idea that there can be only one Pope? There can be more than one Pope. Popes can be either male or female, and Pope Constance is living proof, and is a representative of God upon the Earth, as well as Pope Benedict.
What say you all, Catholic and non-Catholic alike? Is it time for the ascendance of a pleuralistic Papacy and sainthood in modern time?

Japanese word "setsunai" means not just "sad" but also sentimental or slightly distressed and still loving emotions are in it, i think. I always don't know how to explain this feeling in English.

I have heard many say it is arrogant for anyone to think that his faith is the only way. First of all, I should say that the Bible clearly reveals we as Christians have nothing to boast about – that is, except God Himself. Thus it is written, "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

Secondly, Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except by me.” Is it arrogance for one to believe this – especially after experiencing a demonstration of God’s power? Is it not, in fact, humility that leads one to acknowledge that man does not have all the answers, but that God, who reveals Himself to man, might know the way. And so is not man led to trust what he cannot see, that God may open his eyes so he can see – as was the case with the blind man who Jesus healed, as recorded in John, chapter 9. For though he did not know all there was to know about Jesus, when questioned about Him, he responded, “One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”

Churches and pastors can offer a very one-sided biased approach to the bible. Since the bible can mean so many things apparently to so many people do you just listen to what you hear in church and say "oh yeah, that's what that means." or do you try and interpret for yourself?

This stems from a discussion I had with a Christian about the bible. I would say the bible says xyz and she would argue with me and say "No, it doesn't, where?" So I would give her the passage that it says that in. I asked her why she thought it didn't say xyz when she claims to have read the bible in its entirety. I got the rather lame excuse of "That was a long time ago." Well, this particular xyz was about Lot and his daughters, which is a rather interesting story that is hard to forget. So.... where does your bible knowledge come from really? Don't be ashamed to admit you haven't read it entirely. No one will look down on you.

the white people are in a totally different world than us. I only get to interact with them because we are say .. gardeners working at their houses. Young white people do this HANGING out thing where they go with friends to restaurants, concerts, travel.. and they just hang out with white or asians or blacks that are assimilated since birth. Me being a 1st generation american who started with spanish as first language and even still don't feel like i fit in with any assimilated americans, i see them as out of this world. They also see me as out of this world. So how can we ever learn to be friends.
