the white people are in a totally different world than us. I only get to interact with them because we are say .. gardeners working at their houses. Young white people do this HANGING out thing where they go with friends to restaurants, concerts, travel.. and they just hang out with white or asians or blacks that are assimilated since birth. Me being a 1st generation american who started with spanish as first language and even still don't feel like i fit in with any assimilated americans, i see them as out of this world. They also see me as out of this world. So how can we ever learn to be friends.

It's an age old question, my friend. People relate with whom they feel more comfortable. It is not that the two groups don't like each other (a lot of the times). What about finding some "whites" that have spent time in Latin America and can understand/relate to your culture more?

Because we have to stop thinking we are better than others. I am as white as can be. Pale, blue eyed, blond. My new sister in law
is as dark as I am pale. She has dark eye, dark hair and we are as different as night & day, but we are now family. We both serve the same God. When you stop & realize that we all want world peace, good health, love and joy in our lives. We all want the same things, so why can't we all work together for this???

Who says we can't mingle? I'm white and my husband is Mexican, and we both mingle with everybody.
