Let me answer your question with a question. How can you still believe?
The proof he doesn't exist is everywhere..
1.) Evolution- The story of Adam and Eve has been dated through genealogy and bible study to be approximately 6,000 years old, a fact that is believed by the majority of Christians that this is when it all began the earth, animals, and mankind. This is incredibly dense considering it has been proven that the earth is millions of years old through fossil records and the fact that modern man “Homo Sapien Sapien” has inhabited the earth for 160,000-90,000 years. It has been argued that god’s creation of the earth was not over seven 24 hour periods but over many years. Which is a possibility, but how do you explain the fact that there is no record of dinosaurs in the bible and that no hominoid (human like) man was alive during the time of dinosaurs. The dinosaur is a creature of the earth that far outdates the human race. It is proven fact. There is no denying it. The proof is reconstructed in museums all over the earth dating back millions of years. So, in the beginning god created dinosaurs not humans right? Back to the theory of evolution, the similarities between modern man and early hominoids are irrefutable. We share the same bone and joint structures, bipedalism, and dentition (teeth). The tooth pattern and placement are exactly the same. The Y-5 tooth pattern found on fossil molars is the same pattern humans have today. Making it highly unlikely that its just coincidence..
2.) The stories of the Bible...Noahs Ark..Noah was to build an ark and gather his family and two of each animal from the entire planet on the ark in preparation for a grand flood. In the world today there are approximately 15 million species of animals. Keep in mind that each species is a family; take the dog for instance which has around 230 different breeds. Let’s say for sake of argument that each species has 230 different breeds in it. That would mean that the total number of animal breeds on the planet would be 3,450,000,000 and if Noah was to take two of each animal this would give him a grand total of 6,900,000,000 animals. To give you an idea of how massive this number is the current world’s population is 6,547,487,050 humans. In order for Noah to get all these animals on his ark he would need to build an ark roughly the size of Africa. It is highly unlikely this ever happened. The amount of time and trees required to build an ark of that magnitude make it an impossible task. Additionally, let’s not forget how long he would have spent collecting all those animals. Great Fiction.
3.) The thought of religion and its creation was genius really. What easier way to control people and their actions than the threat of eternal damnation for their sins? Religion was created to keep people in line and to persuade them into following a strict moral code. Also, it helped people get over there fear of dying by promising them everlasting life. The most brilliant part of the whole thing is that no one comes back from death. It’s highly unlikely there will ever be that guy who comes back and says, “I was there. It’s real.” This is what makes it work.

Well, I just don't believe. I've read the bible, been to church, and read all of the "dark night of the soul" books that try to help people find God. It didn't work. I felt like I was putting a square peg in a round hole. I gave up, and now I am comfortable. When I tried to believe, I felt like a liar. Now I feel like I am telling the truth.

Common sense and an unwillingness to blindly accept whatever I'm told.
Most theists, regardless of what superstition they turn their life over to, have chosen it purely for social reasons and/or out of intellectual laziness. They have never investigated any other option and won't because of the potential for negative reactions from their particular social circle.

Because I have found no proof other than human writings to suggest that a higher power exists. Or the supernatural. I've never seen or heard God, Jesus, Mohammad or Buddha.

Because after wading through the research and opinion of the last couple of millenia, I have yet to see one solitary shred of evidence that god(s) exist. Not one, and none seems forthcoming. That goes for ALL gods and the "supernatural."
