doesn't that seem like humanity got the short end of the stick? i mean you are wrong before you're even out of the womb. all the way til death do us part too. to me it seems more about what's wrong with people than what is right..

I say....MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Even if the other people are Jewish or another religion. Christmas is what I celebrate and I should have the right to say what I wish and celebrate....am I right or wrong?

I asked this question last night and only received 2 answers so I don't think it was posted properly.

With days and holidays like Easter, Valentines Day and Christmas, do you celebrate the long lost meaning of those or the commercialization of them. Also what about Mothers Day and Fathers Day? Do you wait until the calender says to gives gifts and extra phone calls or do you do them through out the year? For me, most holidays and special days, are just that...days. Why have we let holidays loose much of the meaning they used to have? I celebrate Christmas mainly for my kids but I've educated them on what it is really about...not the "Gimmie, Gimmie Day" it has become.

Ok non-Christians. You got us. Christ wasn't born on Christmas.

Before you celebrate that little victory, did you know that it's not that big of a deal? The actual date of Christ's birth is not known so why not make it on a day people are already comfortable celebrating on? Besides, so many people on here keep claiming Christ is just a fairy tale, so why would you accuse us of getting a date wrong for a birth that never took place? Did you also know that the only evidence we have Christ wasn't born on Dec. 25th is in the Bible? So are you non-Christians actually using the Bible to support your claims?

Someone in a previous questions said we are taking back Christmas for the pagans.... then it wouldn't be CHRIST-mas would it?

People get angry at God when their lives don't turn out the way they would like or when something horrible happens in their lives. Where does the misconception that God ever promised us a fair, good, happy life come from? In all three Abrahamic religions (the big three) Christianity, Judaism, and Islam we're given the story of Adam and Eve right up front. One of the main themes/lessons of this story is that we had the choice to live in harmony with God, under His protection and with fairness. We chose not to do this. We chose to be in charge of our own life, and we're living the result out every day. God never promised that we'd have a fair, happy, long or incident free life. He never promised that bad things wouldn't happen to us. He actually stated quite the opposite about living contrary to what He had in mind. So, why is He the first to blame? Why do so many get angry at Him.

She woke up hearing "who else is in the house?" Was startled and she heard it again. She looked at me and asked what I had said. She said I then put my finger on her lips and shushed her and said "There is a ghost whisperer here." She then said what? And I said "shhhh, there is a ghost whisperer here" and and was quite again. I don't remember this but she said it happened and isn't one to make this stuff up. Also spoke to a brother in law about it and he was at our house earlier on in the week laying tile for us and said he was getting the feeling that he was being watched. is my house haunted or do I am I freaking out?

Christians, athiests, pagans, agnostics, and all those who celebrate Chrismas do so for different reasons.
For Christians, it's a celebration of the birth of Christ. For others it's a celebration of family and still others it's the joy of giving and receiving. For others it is a celebration of their god(s)
Is it worth the arguement?

I have some friends that have been going through some very difficult times lately (evection, new baby, downsizing) & are getting slowly back on thier feet. I helped them move (which they asked) & have been helping them unpack (fire hazzard). She has post partdum & a teenager & he is working 2 jobs to pay the bills. They have six cats that are going on everything. I offered the use of my washer/dryer & the girl gave me 8 trash bags of clothes which later I discovered were all hers, non sorted & covered in cat ****/****. Nor did they give me soap or dryer sheets. I know they don't have $, but I'm feeling a bit like a servant. Clean & dirty are always on the floor & they forget to throw out the trash or do the dishes for days. (I've thrown out pots full of maggots). They have enough stuff for two families & no shelving to speak of. Should I continue to help or am I enabling them?

I see a connection between this. Am I the only one who see's that? I'm not trying to be rude, though I'm sure it will be taken that way. I have my reasons for thinking this. I'm not saying this is the case with all gays and lesbians but it seems like a high number.

Since they are questioning everyone else's right to meet up with their family and mark the start of winter, I wonder if any of them would like to justify why Christians observe the Pagan festival of Saturnalia at the winter solstice (when the day and night are of equal length)? It's not a Christian holiday at all, the early Christians just appropriated it to get new believers to mark Christ's birth, even though Christ is reckoned to have been born in October 4BC. No doubt they all know this.
