Surveys done among gay men and lesbians show that the rate of child molestation is higher than that in heterosexuals. So yes, it is true that many gays and lesbians were molested as children. However, it doesn't mean that everyone who is a homosexual was molested at some point in their lives, and it doesn't mean that sexual molestation as a child will result in a homosexual orientation.
P.S.: Don't buy the great lie of homosexuality, which is "we're born that way." Not true. Human beings are animals, and it is a scientifically proven fact that all animals have an instinct for survival. It is also a scientifically proven fact that it takes male and female to perpetuate all species of higher animals, so same-sex relationships are contrary to the laws of nature because a society of truly homosexual animals is doomed to extinction. Homosexuality is a CHOICE.

I was one of those molested kids. I spent a lot of life trying to be straight. That's what society says is normal and when your sense of worth is low, you emmulate what you want to be - accepted, normal, like everyone else. It wasn't until after I dealt with the emotional damage and got to a place with regained self-esteem and comfortable with trust and intimacy that I realized that my flat attraction to men was about a deeper more natural attraction to women. Sex is sex regardless of gender. Although non-sexual intimacy might be easier with one gender than the other, innate sexual attraction is what it is and it doesn't come from the intellect. In other words, I believe that if anything, seriously molested kids are more apt to try to be straight because that's what they see they should be.
It really makes me angry that your misconception is so prevalent. It's exactly what I used to tell myself whenever I'd crush on a girl or fall in love with a friend - it wasn't me, it was because of what was done to me. That thinking was so very wrong. In itself, it was damaging.
Btw, studies on CSA are that about 1 in 6 girls are molested sometime before they turn 18. I'm sure you are familiar with the stat that 1 in 4 women have been raped. Most lesbians were not abused. You do the math. There simply are not that many lesbians. CSA screws you up emotionally and intellectually. It doesn't change your orientation any more than it changes the color of your eyes. Anyone who has a choice is innately bisexual. If you are straight, you will never feel comfortable with the same sex. And if you are gay, the opposite sex will never do it for you. That's just the way it is.

Actually most of the lesbians I know either were molested as a kid OR had parents that fought a lot and the father was mean OR the father beat the mother. I only know of a handful that never had a traumatizing childhood including myself. SO who knows? BUT I CAN tell you that the ones who had a mean father are the ones who cannot seem to stay in a relationship for any length of time. I think it's because they never got to see how married adults are SUPPOSED to act in a marriage. And these are the women who always seem to choose unstable or dysfunctional partners?

I cant speak for others, so i'll tell ya my story
I did not know i was bisexual till my mid 20's. I also started crossdressing at a very young age. Did my molester know all this? No. What being molested did do to me was take my innocence away. Did it affect my orientation? Probably not, but now i'll never know that for sure. One thing i do know is, trying to find a connection between the crime and a person's orientation trivializes the trauma the victim goes through. Bad enough for the crime, bad enough dealing with gay issues today, now you want to throw another monkey wrench into my psyche? Was your question rude? definately Is it insensitive? Absolutely.
But you say you have your reasons.
If its what i suspect, my advice is dont trivialize it, just be a friend.
Hope that helps ya

Well as it happens I was sexually active at 14 with people much older than me - however Inever felt molested. In fact many times I feel like I seduced the other person. However, in this day and age I am sure it would be considered molestation because of the age difference.
But you need to know that I already knew I was gay (attracted ONLY to boys) when I was 6 years old. SO I had the feelings way before I had sex.

I don't think that the percentages of children who eventually self-identify as gay or straight can be that different.
One possible reason that you might be seeing this trend could be the attitudes that these survivors have toward sex; in my experience (which is by no means extensive), the gays and lesbians I know have been more willing to discuss sexuality as a general topic, be it in terms of sex, attraction, or "deviance". More traditional groups and families tend to avoid discussing molestation or really any sexual topics merely out of feelings of what's proper or appropriate and what's not. It's not that it doesn't happen, but heterosexual people, on the whole, are not forced to confront their sexual identities and histories in the ways that society imposes on gays and lesbians.

It simply has nothing to do with sexuality....they were abused the same as many other people.
The problem is that if a hetero was molested then he is a molested person, but if a gay was molested then instantly everyone connects it with his/hers sexuality.
Thats why you think the number is high, it is just focusing more on the fact when it comes to gays.
Its the same in many other parts of life, if a hetero is an artist, he is just an artist, but if a gay is an artist, instantly it is connected with the fact that he/she is gay...

You only think there's a high number because of all the recent reports of male pedophiles being molested themselves as children. However, it's pretty safe to say that most gay people were not molested. Some gay people have been molested but so have some hetrosexuals. I see where you're coming from but it is simply not true.

It is a disproportionately high number. I know that from psychological studies. I know that from homosexuals that I know. Certainly, in total cases most of the molested are still straight. Certainly, the share of heterosexuals is overwhelimingly large. The proportion, however, number of molested heterosexuals divided by heterosexual population compared to the number of molested homosexuals divided by the homosexual population, is larger among the homosexual population. The early recognition of that is what made it so easy for the major psychology pioneers to so quickly come to the maladjustment conclusions. First, maladjustment because of poor parental relationships, second, maladjustment because of adverse experiences (like molestation, rejection by potential mating partners, and what some call recruitment, aggressive salesmanship by homosexuals in search of fresh homosexuals). It may not be politically correct, but it is true.

I was raped as a 9 year old child by 7 men but my rape did not cause my homosexuality or bisexuality. There is evidence to support the opposite that my being homosexual may have contributed to my being raped. Child predators learn quickly what works and in my case my being assaulted was the result of me being caught looking at an older guy who was taking a shower at camp they got me after lights out and the 7 campers raped me because they where teaching the "phaggot" a lesson
Child molestation doesn't cause homosexuality Child molestation in my case happened because of my homosexuality. So child molesters are sometimes homophobes.

How do you define molestation? Are you talking about sexual molestation or any other form of unwanted attention by another person? To suggest a causal link between sexuality and molestation and then to refuse to give details of said link is, I think, a pretty weak basis for such a statement. Sexuality is part of life and it is highly unlikely that any absolute causal factors will be identified in this or any other lifetime - that's the mystery of life in all its diversity Let's just celebrate that.
