How can you celebrate Christmas if you aren't sure it exists?

(no offense to my agnostic friends)

I hate to tell you this. Christmas doesn't exist. Only the winter solstice.. but we dont mind sharing it.

oh neither does santa claus oh and that bloke called jesus.. they figure that if he was born (not saying he was the son of god just a bloke called jesus) it was in October.

Do you need a hanky and a lie down now..

Lets start with the definition:

Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.0.1) - Cite This Source
ag‧nos‧tic

–noun 1. a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience.

The holiday Christmas DOES exist, now the cause of the celebration is questionable, as is everything in this world. Are you positive that you were born on your birthday? You trust your mother is telling the truth because you don't recall that event. Are you SURE that you live in the year 2006, or did someone make a mathematical error and it's really 3006?

Yes, because Christmas is a day people celebrate. If you're agnostic, something proven is something you can believe in.
Presents and decorations and Christmas celebrations prove Christmas exists as a celebrated day.

Christmas is a cultural and national holiday. We celebrate it with the traditional cultural, non-religious trappings -- a Christmas tree, giving gifts, a family meal, etc. A lot of the Christmas trappings are pre- or non-Christian in nature anyway, taken from Pagan and Norse solstice celebratory practices.

Of course Christmas exists -- in fact, it existed long before Jesus did [if he did]. The midwinter festival antedates Christianity by centuries.

Christmas exists because my boss tells me to stay home from work that day. The reason why is entirely irrelevant to me.
