The American govt. are too scared of the gun lobby to do anything about it. There are too many guns and too many nutters whose usual response is "guns don't kill people, people kill people" when it should read "people with guns kill people".

The most heavily armed country in the world is Switzerland which is also one of the most peaceful. According to the NRA guns don't kill people, people kill people. It seems as if they are only half right, guns don't kill people, only insane Americans kill people. Why has America got the biggest murder rate in the developed world if it was only due to the availability of fIrearms? Why is Canada immune from this, they have just as many guns per head of population? The only answer seems to be that America is a nation of blood crazy psychos who only need the slightest excuse to pull the trigger on some poor innocent. I think a lot of this is due to the brain washing Yanks get in school, "Defend the flag, the USA is the greatest, we are the best nation in existence, hooray for the red, white and blue" Jingoistic claptrap, all due to constitutional free speech, you can say what you like and any emotional and mental state is just as valid as the next one. Kill a commie for Christ? Yeah right.

If everyone had a weapon there would be less killings, if people knew that they had to face people with guns to defend themselves they would think twice about mugging and shooting people. In Switzerland they have one of the lowest crime rates in the world because everyone, by law, has to have a gun. Every person in my family has a gun to protect themselves and my children have grown up to respect and understand the consequences of their actions as well having a strong religious belief and moral upbringing. They also understand that there are less religious people out there and people who want to hurt them so they know how to defend themselves.

While I acceot their religious beliefs I think that if the Amish really wanted to be Americans and participate in our great nation they should accept just a few of our customs and rights to make themselves feel safer and accept personal responsibility for protecting their community, or they should not go running to the Government whenever they have a problem.

Only the liberals here think that by taking away a person's right to defend themselves would we get less killing. What sort of sick mind comes up with such twisted logic I ask you?

It's all about the fear that the American government inflicts upon it's people via the media. If they didn't live in fear there would be no desire to have guns. Watch bowling for colombine. It's a very one sided view, but good none the less.

it's happening everywhere. There is no support for 'problem children'. In england we have children stabbing other childrenat school with knives, scissors, pencils.

The government need to sort something out and support these children when they are children, before they grow up and have the strength to do real damage.

There are killing in other countries as well... they are simply not publicized !

The USA puts everything right out there for people to hear about then they have something to complain and whine about... many feel life is not fun unless they can bltch about something!

Poor suckers

They could acknowledge that the right to bear arms is not a valid right and accordingly take the brave and possibly unpopular but still right and necessary step to restrict what US citizens are allowed to possess in terms of guns and related weaponry

Simple. Too many guns. The right to bear arms is in the Consitution, even though there's no real need for the average Joe to have one.
