Is it disturbing at all to you?

5 Amish girls were shot and killed died and multiple others wounded recently. the gunman planned to rape each and everyone of them...he even brought lubricants and various other "tools" to do so.

yet, despite this tragedy, an Amish woman said that they believe it was God's plan. this is what i cant understand. how can you trust in a God who would allow such suffering, especially when he incorporates it into his plan? that God allows the suffering and you thank him for his blessings the same day?

and lets try to avoid "its faith" "dont judge god" "we dont know what Gods plan is" type answers. give me reasons.

The Republicans want to protect it by making sure Gays can't do it, however to really protect it should we make adultry illegal, and punishable?

I don't think we should, and I think all people should be able to marry, however, I do think that churches should be able to exclude gays from marrying.

I have worked with a real head-case who I'm sure we'll get to read about in the papers. He is a bricklayer, from Southampton, Hampshire, in his thirties, obssessed with death-metal music and knives, drinks to excess, smokes dope and takes cocaine. His character is two trains, a long bus ride and a twenty minute walk away from the town of 'Stable'. He went into a mentalist rage when I'd said that Eric Clapton was a damn good guitarist... Well, he is, isn't he? He associates with another much quieter alcoholic/drug-binger (smokes crack at work, and drinks five cans of strong lager before driving home) he works with, who has connections with the criminal fraternity, and has been asking the quiet guy repeatedly to get him a gun, so he "can feel what it is like to kill someone".
He has squared-up to most people he works with, even though no-one wants any trouble with him.

What do I do? I'll try the 101 number for the police, but I doubt they'll do anything.

He is going in for surgery the day after tomorrow. It is a really bad time for his spirits are already down for his father, my grandfather, just died this morning. It is a very LONG and strenuous surgery, and it is for cancer. He needs all the help and prayers that he can get. His name is Richard Caum. Thank you all.

Cheerleading only reinforces the idea of females being compared to objects. I think that is largely inappropriate. And cheerleading is hardly a sport --- it requires no skill at all.

Folks, thank you for your answers. As you see it the reason why we eat animals like say pigs is because of one of the following reasons:

God said we could eat meat after the flood;

pigs taste good; and

we are intelligent and pigs are not.

Lets think about human vegetables now. Human vegetables have no sentient ability; they cannot think, communicate or do anything without assistance. They are made of meat, like pigs. And thousands of years of human cannibalism, widespread across cultures, is proof that human flesh tastes good.

So all the reasons that you have given for eating pigs apply to eating people without brain function.

Why is it that we do not eat these human vegetables?

On what basis do we give them human rights since they are so much less than human, just slabs of living meat?

I am so amazed that some people don't believe in God. How can anyone go outside and look up at the clouds, or at the trees that change with the seasons, the animals, two people in love, a baby, the sunrise or sunset, a deer playing with her baby, birds that are so amazing and build nests and fly south for the winter and not believe that there is a creator that put all of this into order? It seems like it would take more faith to not believe than it does to believe since the evidence is so clear. It is to me anyway. Just a question I came up with while I was driving home and enjoying creation. How can this be that some don't believe?

I have not been brought up with a religious background, however I do have faith in God. I just am not sure how to pray or to whom to pray. I do pray to God, but what about my Grandfather that passed? Can I pray to him? Do I pray to Jesus? I realize that it probably doesn't matter and I'm more curious than anything, but I also want to be sure that I'm not being disrespectful in some way.

This has nothing to do with population. Yes, the majority of the population are white men, but there are more black men in prison. So don't tell me that this is because there are more white men.
