Cheerleading only reinforces the idea of females being compared to objects. I think that is largely inappropriate. And cheerleading is hardly a sport --- it requires no skill at all.

Cheerleading doesn't compare females to objects anymore then a quarter back is compared to an object.

I'd like to see a little more clothing on some high school cheerleaders though. Some I do think are inappropriate.

Excuse me? I've never been a cheerleader, and I wouldn't have defended them when I was in high school, either. But they have highly synchronized and complex routines. They incorporate elements of dance and gymnastics. They lift each other. They get sprains and can break bones. And they do it all while yelling and smiling.

Also, where have you been? Males can be cheerleaders, too. GWB was a cheerleader in college, decades ago.

The only sexist I'm seeing is *you*.

First, everyone!!

We live in Amer-ika (as our next President will pronounce it), People are entitled to their opinions.

I am a weightlifter. 20 years. And I cannot! pick up someone with one hand and hold them up in the air! Cheerleaders do it with no problem at all. I find that amazingly talented and impressive.

And throwing people up in the air? Sorry, but you would have to pry my arms from the nearest tree before you throw me up that high! Again, I am very impressed with what cheerleaders can do.

It needs to be declared a sport. More cheerleaders are injured than football players, because they are not properly coached or supervised.

I agree with 'pops' "ban sports. it detracts from the educational budget."
What a waste of money for a chosen few.
