I'm new to the United States. I've been speaking English for quite sometime, yet the colourful metaphors used in America often elude me. Regardless, at the firm where I work, there is this beautiful secretary. She's really nice and often times comes over to my cubicle to chat. Earlier today, she asked me if I'd fancy to take the skin boat to tuna town. I have absolutely no inkling of an idea as to what that means. When I asked her the meaning of that phrase, she simply replied that I should find out and get back to her with an answer.

What does it mean?

I was adopted from another country at an early age by American citizen parents. I really appreciate living here and all that this country provides. I don't believe i would have the same opportunities living anywhere else. I often hear people complaining so much about how bad this country is, this and that. I want to say to many people. If you don't like it here, move! This is not like North Korea where they keep their citizens as prisoners. I don't necessarilly agree with the US governments handling of issues like the war, but ppl just quit complaining! shut up or ship out.

recognition of employee of the month? This is a letter to a nonprofit organization that provides programs for our company. I am thanking them for a employee of the month recognition plaque and a check. I don't want to just say "thanks for the check and plaque". I would like it to sound really professional. I don't know where to begin or end. Please help. Thanks in advance.

I have put this question on my webblog, haroldsays.net, and was curious what all you good people at Yahoo answers had to say about this question.

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

By the way... I find non-volunteer and/or non-paid animal testing to be absolutely intolerable!
Give animals a choice!!
If any animal doesn't want to be involved in testing...then pay another one who does..
I MEAN IT!!

why should we answer him? I have and have gone so far as to email him. Clearly he is starving for attention and he has now started to get personal about others on this site. We know YA! won't do anything. He clearly dislikes gays and yet here he is. One has to wonder why he is such an a-hole.

Don't you realize we do the same thing in English-speaking societies?

Jesus (aramaic), in Hebrew, is Yeshua.
Translated into Roman, that's Joshua.

Joshua and Jesus are the same name :)

an exgirlfriend comes up to me and starts talking. haven't seen her in a year. she's gained A LOTof weight. I pour some bottled water in my hand and start patting the back of her neck. she asks "what are you doing?" I said "I'm keeping your blow hole moist until we can get you back in the ocean."

I can still feel the sting from the slap.
