Even if god were real, which the jury is still out on, your distant distant cousins are apes. Your ancestors (God or no God) were not "apes", we share a common ancestor though. So the ape's great-great-... grandparents were the same as our great-great... grandparents.

There is no logical connection between the existence of God and whether or not anyone, including you, is decended from Apes. So God may be real and you could be decended from Apes. God may not exist and you may be decended from Apes. Take your pick.

We share a common ancestor with apes; apes were not your ancestor.

Just a quick question--why can't evolution and belief in god co-exist? Isn't it possible that god could have created evolution?

You already are an ape. All humans are a type of ape. Something like 97% of our genes are exactly the same as a chimpanzee's.

I'm more agnostic that atheist, but Darwin never claimed we came from apes. Mutations occur slowly and even go back and forth, so there is never a direct line of descent.

Yeah, especially if they couldn't spell...ansestors???? Why should I take anything you say seriously when you obviously have no grip on your own language.

Yea...so?

What's the problem?
I would rather have an ape for an ancestor than some megalomaniacs from history

When you use the term god, are you talking about a creator or one fo your human relatives? God has to have a precise definition! anthing can be a god if it can create to any degree! So what degree or abilility to create is necessary to be labled as a god?

Evolution means that apes and humans had a common ancestor. It has been proven and accepted in the scientific community. Evolution has very little to do with atheism.

They were primates not monkeys if that's what you mean. Just because you are an atheist doesn't mean you believe in evolution.

(Evolution is considered correct by everyone in the scientific community though)
