Group 1 believes in "A", but admits there is no empirical evidence for "A". Group 2 does not believe in "A" because there is no empirical evidence. No one in group 1 is in group 2 and no one in group 2 is in group 1.

Sometimes people from group 1 want to have rules set up for groups 1 and 2 based on "A", to which they fully admit there is no empirical evidence.

Sometimes people from group 2 get upset and demand the proof of "A", and suggest that in the absense of such evidence, people in group 1 stop trying to control group 2.


Is it logical of group 2 to ask group 1 to show group 2 some empirical evidence of "A", and in the abscense of such evidence to stop trying to control group 2 with the "A".

1. go to the wedding?
2. go to game?
3. go to first part of game leave and show up at reception at 9pm?
4. go to wedding at church and then show up at game a little late?

My husband and I have been asked to help start a new Cub Scout/Boy Scout pack... We have told the man No... I just got a call from one of the other people starting this pack with him and had to tell her NO, and told her that I had already told the other guy NO... Yes, our son is in scouting and we are looking for another pack, but 1 of these people are the reason we left the other pack..... Without cussing them out, cause that isnt a good scout, how do I get these people to accept our answer of NO? I told them we didnt want to be a part of a new pack, we would rather be a part of an established pack.....I have tried everything I can think of. I am not used to adults who dont listen to the word no... Thanks everyone

D'ya think maybe it's genetics, as in lacking abstract/conceptual thinking genes. Seems genetic predispositions often have another obvious indicator - for this one, could it be an uncontrollable need to pontificate loudly?

Hmm, seems they often have trouble with complicated instructions manuals, too. Is there a corralary or is that just stereotyping?

I tend to think it's a choice, but recognize my sexual orientation and IQ aren't, so thought I'd ask. What'cha think?

Or any other phrase for that matter? Also, why say excuse me. It is a non-offensive normal bodily function that you can't control. As a person with allergies, I find it irritating when I sneeze 8 times and get 8 bless yous to follow. Then I feel obligated to say thank you. Do I have to say thank you when I didn't ask to be blessed in the first place?

We have a SERIOUS fruitflie problem in our apartment right now. At one point (before I lived there) the dishes hadn't been done in probably 2 months (and nobody went into the kitchen where the sick was filled with rotten food on the dishes) BUT, when I moved in, my "rent" for that month was to do the dishes and clean some other parts of the apartment and buy groceries. That was it. So I did it. The fruit flies were TERRIBLE cleaning the dishes that time. They were all very little, but I started annilating them with the 409 Cleaner spray and it killed them quickly and they all died. Well, I kept coming back to the sink (the next days) and every day new little flies were sitting on a clean sink!! I kept the garbage disposal lid over the sink (so they can't be coming from there) and also we got a trash can with a lid cause I noticed about a week ago they were landing on the trash now. WHAT CAN I DO TO KILL THEM? I've now resorted to sucking them up in a vacuum, but more show up!
