I know several older people who pronounce it "worsh." I have no idea why. Maybe some fad started a few decades ago?

My grandparents lived in Memphis,Tennessee for a long time and everyone said worsh for the word wash. So you had to worsh your hands and they said George Worshington. It is quite annoying. There isn't a damn 'r' in the word wash or in Washington.

It's a regional thing, I think. I pronounce it Wah-shing-ton, but I know people who pronounce it "worsh." My grandmother says that she's going to "worsh" the dishes.

it definitely isn't worsh-ing-ton - it is wash-ing-ton with the accent on the first syllable.

Don't pay it any mind, you know the drill unless you leave the country then it won't matter. Houston. There's only one way to pronounce it, right? Try downtown Manhattan. It has a serious case of inherited stubbornnes. " House - ton ". Weird, huh?

It is "wah shing tun" but yes people pronounce it incorrectly. It is just an American accent. You would be surprised on how many words we do pronounce incorrectly.
